Wish I would have purchased this sooner. Off loading pics and videos on this was simple and fast. Perfect for storing my drone and gopro files on. Oh did i mention how easily you can transport this to another location plug it in and show family and friends your content. Must have. Also has a great device window that you can monitor the transfer and transfer rates.

I bought the Toshiba Canvio Basics 2TB external hard drive (model HDTB520XK3AA) to back up my files, and it’s been absolutely reliable. It’s truly plug-and-play — I connected it to my laptop and it was ready to use within seconds, no setup or software required. The transfer speed is great for everyday use — I’ve moved large folders of photos and videos with no problem. It’s compact, lightweight, and easy to carry in a backpack or laptop case. I also appreciate that it doesn’t make any noise and doesn’t overheat. Perfect for backups, extra storage, or even taking files between work and home. Excellent value for the price!

It’s very affordable, small, slim and the hookup and function was very easy and simple not too complicated…. not to mention it works fast with transfers etc. impressive!

I've used two Toshiba external drives for many years now, one for my laptop and one for my PS4, and when the laptop seemed to be having more and more trouble recognizing its external drive, even after cleaning the plug contacts, I figured it was time for a new drive. This new drive does not disappoint. In fact, it makes such short work of backing up files that it became clear to me that the previous drive must have been dying for some time... I am amused too that the LED indicator light on this new drive doesn't flash like a coquette blinking her eyes the way the previous drives did. Instead, this drive blinks the LED very slowly and deliberately while it's working, as if to say, "I've got this; nothing to worry about!" At first I had a problem getting the drive to back up my laptop. The computer recognized the drive and the LED lit up solid, but my repeated command "Back up now" kept failing. I tried cleaning the plug contacts, rebooting the laptop, and even reformatting the drive, but still no successful backup. Then I discovered that Windows 10 makes you click on a "Stop using this drive" button (your previous drive) before you tell it to "Add a new drive." Once I had gone through that little ritual, all was well. And indeed, I was amazed how fast the new drive backed up all my files, accomplishing in less than an hour what the old drive had taken a number of hours to do. All in all, this drive does its job, and I trust I will get years of use out of it, as I did the Toshiba's before...

I am not a techie and I am here to tell you this is a SUPER easy plug and play device that requires no instructions, no help from teenagers, you simply plug it in and drag your files over. It is a life saver for your computer because it is not expensive and it will speed up your computer and in my case I will stop getting the fatal errors that I have no more memory. HIGHLY recommend.

I was disappointed but I could not believe that two external drives could be DOA on arrival in as many days. So I went about rearranging and pulling out everything connected to the old computer. I plugged in the Toshiba external drive and it worked! So it could have been a power issue; enough power to light the blue light on the drive but not enough to allow it to work. I tried the one that came yesterday and it worked too. I'm just going to tell Amazon to bill me for both drives; I'll keep them both. I've been using Toshiba drives for years; they've been good for me.
