It worked
We bought this as the end snapped off our HDMI cable which ran in the wall! If you do buy the adapter (or any other adapter) then buy a cheap HDMI tester as well, as not all the wiring inside the cable is the same as the diagrams provided with this or any other adapter. With the adapter and tester in hand it took about 20 minutes to wire the adapter up and our TV is back working again. Great item and would recommend.

Difficult to use
Although it feels very solid and good quality. But it’s Very difficult to use, I couldn’t get it working with my cable.

Easy to use data plug.
Useful device which is easy to use if you know what wire goes where. Quality is good and functionality is fine. Useful if a cable in use gets damaged and can be cut back and this device used. Especially useful if you have difficulty soldering although this device has screw terminals to help.

Fantastic HDMI replacement
I have a 5m high-speed cable hidden behind plasterboard and a brick fireplace so replacing the cable just wasn’t an option when the plug at the bluray end starting glitching with intermittent signal. I spent a long time stripping down the original plug to find out which wires connected to which pins, made much more difficult by everything being set in hard plastic resin but managed it eventually. I also purchased an HDMI tester to check the connections made and found that I had accidentally crossed 2 sets of pins, which I was able to correct. Working perfectly again and the plug is well-made and sturdy for the price, with another in reserve for future mishaps. Get a good set of wire-strippers, optical screwdrivers, reading glasses / magnifier and a bright light, as wires are thin and screws small and fiddly but they have to be to cram 20 wires into such a tight space. HDMI tester highly recommended to test all connections first before tidying the wires and closing the cover. Most importantly of all, set aside A LOT of time to complete this job but the result is well worth the effort!

Fanstastic piece of kit.
Strong adaptor glued onto motherboard well so no chance of detachment from motherboard or loose connection when fiddling around with 20 individual HDMI threads and screwing them into position one by one. Impressed by its strength. Procedure 1. Separate the 20 HDMI threads and expose 5mm of wire on each. No need to retain the pairings or groups. 2. Connect the 20 threads one by one to a 20-connection connector block which is stuck on to cardboard 3. Take 10cm of CAT5 or telephone wire and strip into 20 threads. 4. Connect those stripped individual CAT5 threads (20 in total) and connect one by one onto this HDMI adaptor 5. Use continuity tester to wire each of the 20 CAT5 stripped threads onto HDMI connector 6. If done correctly, the HDMI cable should be restored 7. Double insulate the whole thing with 2 rounds of alumnium foil to shield from electrical interference 8. Due to the multiple cuts and connections, use a powered HDMI repeater / amplifier to ensure signal strength as the repaired cable did not work first time (patchy intermittent signal) 9. Got mine working with Apple TV and really impressed that it worked !!!!

Dont attempt this without a hdmi tester
As luck would have it built a tv integrated wall mount with 2 hdmi cables, only to have one break during mounting the tv! I had a few options, live with a single hdmi, re-channel the wall or try and fix the hdmi cable. As the single working hdmi was dedicated to the Sonos ARC. Firstly i had 19+1 wires (and understand different hdmi cables have different wires config). Then tried to follow the standard wiring diagram. What a disaster… The only was to fix this is invest in a proper hdmi cable tester. Its took approx 2 hours to wire/test and reconnect this hdmi but the resuls were well worth the effort. Happy to report its a great little solution if you have a hdmi cable that cant be replaced. Few key points (before you embark on this project) - have plenty of time (and patience) - invest in a good hdmi tester - have a set of cable strippers and cutters - be ready for failure!
