Meinl Percussion Bongo Cajon Instrument - Back-friendly Drum Box with Snare, Bass, and Bongo Sound - Playing Surface Brown (BCA1SNT-M)

Good fun and well made. I am not sure I am entirely happy with the high tone frankly, and think normal Bongos produce a better sound. That said, this is very good for Cajon players, gives the exact Cajon feel but with a bongo sound. I do really like playing it. I personally find the snare to be pointless, it masks the high tone too much and it made it sound like a weird cajon rather than bongos, so I removed the snare immediately which is quick and easy.Personally I think if you are purely after a bongo sound, I'd invest in normal bongos, but if you are a cajon player this is likely to be a good addition to your collection ; )One bad point is the packaging. It's just in a loose piece of plastic, and I mean LOOSE. There are small scuff marks on the surface. Nothing terrible but it is bad show of MEINL to ship these things is such a cheap and lacklustre way. This should arrive in a box packaged AT FACTORY so you receive an instrument without scratches. I do not think this is Amazons faulty, MEINL should package it properly.

Impossible to rate the item itself - because some character in the Amazon >> Supply Chain has badly messed up the delivery promised for today (13/5/2013)Was amazed to receive a mail from Amazon 'customer service' saying they could not deliver - I was here, sitting a few feet from m front door - no-one knocked, no card has been left by a courier.I will have to investigate if they have wrongly stuffed a card through a neighbour's door, or tried to deliver to a similar but different address half a mile away (that sometimes annoys both us residents of these addresses!)Either way, supplier or courier incompetence has delayed this order.This review is written in anger awaiting for responses from Amazon, whilst my instrument presumably spends another day or so being chucked around delivery vans and depots.I will write a proper review if I ever get my hands on my cajon.

Really enjoy this cajon, it really complements the percussion set I have. The two tones are distinctive and the snare adds a nice bit of snap to it. But it actually has even more sounds that you can get from it just by tapping the outsides as well.

I bought this on spec and have no regrets. I am not a percussionist but I can get some very useful rhythms out of this to enhance my guitar recordings. Compared to traditional bongos it sits much more comfortably on the lap and you get a wide range of tones from it. A very useful addition to my studio.

At £30, no percussionist, or any musician for that matter, should be without one of these. Solidly built with a brilliant smooth finish, and there is a huge variety of sounds that you can get from this great little cajon. Highly recommended :)

They great sound, easy to play, light enough just to have around and all straight out of the box.

Nice and light easy to play good on the hands.

Great sound and quality, comfortable design. Good for experienced percussionists, wouldn't recommend for beginners.
