All Things Considered, a Great Battery
Simply put, this is a great battery. I only have two gripes with it, but it has performed well in every 20v application I have put it through. I tried to upload as many photos as I could to give you a better sense of the size including a comparison between the 1.7ah Powerstack and 5ah XR battery it replaces. Even threw in the beefy 15ah XR for good measure. These photos should also give you a better idea as to what it looks like on several tools. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Pros: - More runtime: Besides the FlexVolt batteries, I've noticed a good difference in runtime between the 5ah Powerstack and 5ah XR battery. - More consistent power: There is definitely more consistent power output in this battery (1.7ah included) than all the other XR batteries. This rivals the 12ah Flexvolt FlexVolt in terms of power consistency. That is impressive. It is most noticeable when I'm using tools like the cordless heat gun. - Rubber base: Just like the 1.7ah Powerstack, the 5ah has the grippy rubber base screwed on the bottom. I don't know why DeWALT refuses to do this on other batteries besides the Powerstack line, because it reduces the chance of marring whatever surface you place it on. Pretty nice. - Larger size: Some people are opposed to this, but I see it as a benefit. Because the base of the battery is wide, it makes whatever tool it's mounted too, harder to and less likely to get knocked over. That's a problem the 1.7ah has (in my experience). Last thing I want is to knock my drill over and damage flooring or fall off a ladder. Will the overall increase in size restrict where I can fit my tool? Yes, 100%. However, it is very rare I run into this problem, and if I ever do, I can just slap in the 1.7ah and I'm good to go. Both batteries compliment each other nicely and have their uses. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Cons: - Weight: This battery is HEFTY for a 5ah. Because of how densely the power cells are packed inside, this thing weighs a lot more than I was expecting. I think this in part to how much I got used to the weight of the 1.7ah and figured the 5ah wouldn't be too off. But it is easily 3x heavier than the 1.7ah and 1.5x heavier than the 5ah XR. - Cost: Obviously, this was going to come up. As you can tell by the price (at least at the time of writing this review) these puppies cost some serious bookoo bucks. ~$210 - $220 for 1 and ~$320 - $350 for the 2-pack. That cost is insane for 5ah batteries and is more in the FlexVolt price range. As a comparison, I waited for Black Friday and got 2, 15ah FlexVolt batteries for $500 on ACME Tools. Pretty crazy these can cost almost as much as a 15ah if you're patient. For myself and my business, I can afford it and the time saved due to the power output is worth the longterm cost, so this purchase made sense to me. Time is money. But the group of people this applies to may be a little niche and not worth the cost, especially since you can easily get 2, 5ah XR batteries for $150. At the end of the day, to each their own, what makes sense to you, may not make sense to others. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Would I recommend this battery? To very few people. Is it a great battery? Absolutely.

Long use, fast recharge. Don’t buy the cheap non Dewalts, worth every $
Great batteries, long usage, nothing like a Dewalt tool for getting a job done.

Perfect OEM DeWalt
These are absolutely perfect! They are an oem part for DeWalt and work just like any others you would get in any high dollar store. They are average pricing through Amazon so it just depends on where you like to shop. They take the same amount of time for charging as any other one through DeWalt. They are simple to use and versatile to big and little batteries. I only used DeWalt so I only know that is the compatibility. I have no idea if they work with anything else

Terrible Batteries That Will Waste Your Money
I rarely leave reviews but this one is worthy, but for all the wrong reasons. I bought a pair of these on sale earlier this year thinking it was a great deal. Little did I know they would perform terribly in the long run. They were great at first: plenty of power, smaller size, and an easy weight. All the promises of this series of battery. Although it was stated to be completely compatible with all DeWalt 12v tools, early on I found that it would not power my mini-vac. That was odd but I continued to use them elsewhere and with other tools. Not long after that, perhaps 2 months in, I noticed shorter life and less power for all my DeWalt tools and using either of these batteries. I've been using my tools and other DeWalt batteries for years so I know how they perform and this was not normal. Then another month in, I had one physically discharge against my arm while operating fully with a leaf blower. It was a quick snap and an electrical tingle as the blower was close to my forearm. Then it was completely out. I tried to charge but it would not take anything; eventually even the charge indicator went dark. So, for an "on sale" pair of the latest 12v DeWalt branded batteries that are usually much more expensive, I now have half a battery and a useless paperweight. Of course I'm past the return period so that's just money down the drain and very frustrating. For anyone considering these I urge caution - or avoid them altogether. You are better off buying the older, albeit heavier and more heavy duty batteries. At this point I even like my pair of Chinese knock-offs better than these and that's saying something. Bottom line: buyer beware. If I could give this zero stars, I would.

One of the standout features of this battery is its added power. It has a 3-LED fuel gauge system that allows you to easily monitor the battery level and ensures that you never run out of power unexpectedly. It also has a high-capacity design that delivers longer runtime, which means that you can work for longer periods without having to stop and recharge. Another great feature of the DEWALT Powerstack 20V MAX Battery is its build quality. It's made of high-quality materials and is designed to withstand regular use without becoming damaged or deformed. The battery is also compatible with a wide range of DEWALT power tools, which makes it a versatile and convenient accessory to have on hand. The battery is also incredibly easy to use. It's easy to install and remove from your power tools, and the rechargeable design means that you don't have to worry about replacing batteries constantly. The battery also charges quickly, which means that you can get back to work faster. Overall, I'm incredibly impressed with the DEWALT Powerstack 20V MAX Battery. It's a top-quality battery that delivers exceptional power and performance, and is built to last. I highly recommend this product to anyone who owns a DEWALT power tool and wants a reliable, high-capacity battery to power their work.

Love these flat stack batteries.
I like the innovation to pouch cell batteries. These are not alot smaller then the standard 5ah batteries, not as tall but bigger base. for some tools its quite nice because the battery makes a nice foot to stand tools. It has more punch the the standard 5ah batteries. Overall pretty good. The one thing to note though it that these batteries are not tolerant to off brand tools. I have a none dewalt glue gun and these batteries will turn themselves off after short use, but will function normally when you put it into a normal dewalt tool, so they have some additional protection in them. something to note.
