It gave me wider coverage for more devices.
My old router was overburdened and was dropping devices. I got tired of reinstalling things and switched to this Wyze router. It was really easy to install, and with the satellite offers wider coverage and no dead spots. Now I can more than double the amount of devices if I choose. I've been a fan of Wyze cameras, bulbs and plugs for years and chose this router because the company had a history of offering reliable quality products. I think I made a good decision! The router has been working flawlessly.

So easy!!!
When I started noticing devices disconnected from our home network I knew it was time for a new router. Received advice from my tech savvy son and purchased these. I love their cameras. Setup was so easy. Most devices reconnected quickly, had very few that I had to manually.

Terrible customer support
I'm done with Wyze. I have multiple Wyze cameras bought over the past five years. Recently started having playback issues from SD Card on G3 cameras. (I believe it's intentional to get users to purchase their cloud storage plan) Last year I purchased their thermostat just to control remotely. Constantly disconnecting. Went through entire process including factory reset twice. Wyze kept telling me the issue was with my WiFi. I bought their Mesh WiFi for my 1350sq.ft. house. Not only did the thermostat go "offline" after two days the wifi coverage is spotty even though I bought a two-pack (Wyze states each one is good for 1500sq.ft.). Wyze's answer to the thermostat going offline once again was poor WiFi. hahahaha it's your wifi system dummies! I returned their mesh system, replaced the thermostat and will replace cameras as they die. Goodbye, Wyze!!! And good riddance!!

Units get alarmingly hot.
I have had this system for awhile now, and actually just replaced it with a different system. While the coverage was “ok” the thing that always bothered me was that these units get really HOT to the touch. Not warm, HOT. And I was reminded of this when I replaced them. They are so hot they make the wood surface they rest on get quite warm. There is a warning about the heat right on the product. Meanwhile the replacement system I bought the units do not even get lukewarm. I’d keep looking if you’re going with a mesh system. Also other systems provide more WAN ports, these have two per unit.

Can’t bet the price
Would’ve gone with another brand, but this has been the most reliable for his price

Runs really hot
Router works great and easy to setup, but they run really hot. Hot to a point that if I touch the bottom it will burn my fingers. Not sure why Wyze didn't have a fan or better cooling method for this router. Even an extra USB port to hook up a small USB fan would have been nice, but this model doesn't have that option. So far even though the router runs really hot there hasn't been any issues. Just make sure where you place the router to not have the router blocked from air flow and maybe try adding some small legs to keep the router higher up so that air can cool the bottom.

Speed almost as good as wired connection
To set these up, you need to download the Wyze App and create an account which I was not happy about. You also need internet access to open your Wyze App. I later found out that you can access the router through the web browser. The username and password are on the bottom of the device. I think the username is case sensitive. You just need to figure out the router’s IP Address. After the initial login, it will prompt you to change your username and password for the device. The App accesses the device via Bluetooth and it is pretty easy to walk through their steps in setting it up although it takes a while for it to process each step. It also takes a long time for it reboot. It notified me and allowed me to update the firmware via the App. At least they are making updates. It is a nice and useful App. I wish I didn’t have to create an account to use it. To be on the safe side, I connected the router to my current internal network and it seems to work this way. Through the new Wyze network, I am still able to access my other devices on the old internal network which is nice. I do not need to reconfigure all my other devices. They can stay on the old network since they work just fine and I can connect the newer devices to the Wyze network. I am impressed that a wireless router these days with the supporting device can get almost a gigabit speed. I did the speed tests and when standing right next to the router, I was getting almost the same speeds as my wired device. I tested the Mesh set up and it seems to work just fine. Apparently, the places I put the second device on was a bit too far and it was suggesting I relocate it closer. It is almost like they want you to put them only a room apart and so you will need more than a couple devices if you need to extend the range by a lot. The Mesh technology is new to me but from what I tested and found out is that the best you are going to get out of your second device is the speed it is able to connect at with the first device. At least it can still extend the range a bit if needed otherwise you can use just one device. They do mention that the bottom will get very warm. This is true and it is suggested you place it where it can get good ventilation. It does feel very warm, almost hot to the touch. So far this has not affected the performance but it is a concern for me. I may place a cooling fan under it and//or use aluminum foil to help dissipate the heat.

Didn't work for me
I purchased this because I have around 10 Wyze cameras and other security items. Installation was a breeze. The instructions say to add the new router with the old router's name, so that connection is seamless and you don't have to reconnect all your devices. This is a brilliant tip. After connecting the router, most of my devices connected with no issue. However, several of the Wyze products failed to connect. I attempted numerous times to connect my Wyze Sense Hub to the network but it didn't connect. So I returned the product. And my Wyze Sense Hub still does not connect so I had to order a new one and subscribe to the home monitoring service which I don't want or need. You would think that adding a product by the same manufacturer would create no issues, but it seems it doesn't work that way with Wyze. They have extended the range of the products they manufacture or market to the point where customer service is unable to keep up with the requests for assistance. It seems they are trying to get the big payout by going public or being acquired by a bigger company for a big paycheck, at the expense of their loyal customer base. So buy through Amazon so you can return the products if they don't work for you.
