Works
I always seem to be on a quest for the perfect bag for whatever activity I am undertaking. I needed a waterproof bag to strap to my motorcycle that wasn’t too big or too small and would carry a weekends worth of stuff. I went through a few bags before I tried this little gem. 40L was just the right size for me and after 3 days of non-stop, driving rain, I can attest that the bag is waterproof. A few reviews complained about not being able to pass a strap through the eyelets on the bag. That is true but I clipped on a few carabiners and passed the strap through those. Easy. This one will be with me a for a long time.

Like a drybag on steroids
I got the duffel and use it to carry my gear, PFD, rain jacket, radio, spare clothes, tool kit, etc. to the boat. It's good, heavy construction and has tie down points, carry handles and a shoulder sling. It's a good size for a gear bag/weekender. Like a drybag, it has a stiff Velcro closure and then folds over on itself with the sides of the opening held by clips, which also help to compress it. I haven't tried tossing it in the water; but have no doubt that it will keep my gear dry if I did. Someone had mentioned concern for the clear 'window' on the side used for showing an ID, though personally I don't think it's an issue unless you plan on deep diving with it or routinely encounter sharp objects, which would pose a threat to the rest of the bag as well. This is my second Gill purchase recently (I have one of their raincoats) and so far I've been very impressed with the quality and craftmanship of their products.

Perfect size.
Great sailor bag. Perfect size for 90 percent of your sailing trips. Shoe, socks, shorts, gloves, foulies, inflatable vest, and room leftover for a toothbrush (handle cut off of course).

Great for sailing
I’m impressed with this bag, heavy duty construction. During a 3 day race, I still put my electronics in a small waterproof pelican case while in this bag. Probably overkill but better to be safe. Kept everything dry!

Gil 30L first impression and use
For my first use, I took it to Phx as a carry-on. I'm 59 and have used a lot of duffles over the years. and thought I'd give this one a try. I like it and like the large opening once opened. The quality of the material and construction is outstanding. For that reason alone I give it a full set of stars. If there was one thing I personally wish it had, would be some secondary opening that when closed it would not have to be unrolled each time to access the inside. I understand the idea is waterproofing the bag and wonder if that would be possible? I like the handles on each end. For now, this bag will replace my other current go-to bagss, including 2 of my BAD bags and even a Filson...outstanding!!!

bag is nice, D-rings too small for nylon webbing.
bag is great, the 4 D-rings are too small to even slip 5/8 inch webbing with clasp through the space in the D-rings. had to purchase additional clasps to attach to the too small D-rings so i could pass the lashing though new rings to allow quick lashing and unleashing of the bag to back of my motorcycle.

Sailboat, it was raining to get on , felt 100% confident my stuff would stay dry . Thick material and air tight .
