I have been making limited production resin recasts of rare plastic model kits for over 30 years and have always used 10:1 silicone rubber for the molds. Having to deal with long setting times (typically 24 hours), air bubbles and the tiring mixing process due to the viscosity of the rubber were hassles I just learned to deal with. Oh and don't forget the expense, usually $125 or thereabouts per gallon.For my latest project I decided to try NicPro 1:1 silicone mold making rubber. I had read mostly positive reviews and thought I'd give it a go so I purchased the 72oz kit to experiment with.Here are my pros and cons:PROS1. PRICE I'm paying HALF of what I used to pay for traditional 10:1 silicone2. EASE OF USE. The ingredients are very easy to mix and pour, basically the texture of light cream3. ZERO BUBBLES I'll say it again. ZERO BUBBLES!!! Anyone experienced with traditional silicone knows the hassle of minimizing bubbles with expensive vacuum chambers. NicPro eliminates concern about bubbles.4. DURABILITY. So far the cured rubber seems EXTREMELY durable and should last for many, many castings, although only time and repitition will confirm that.5. DETAILS NicPro will copy the finest details, down to fingerprints in the clay I use for mounting the master parts.4. SETTING TIME. NicPro sets in 3-6 hours. Just make sure to be exact in mixing ratios. Use a scale to get the exact 1:1 ratio by weight and stir for 3-4 minutes.CONSThe mold wall components that come with the kit might work for small parts but keep some sulfur free clay or a hot glue gun ready to seal any leaks because the mold WILL leak using just using the tape and clips supplied. I make my own mold walls out of clear acrylic plastic and seal the seams with hot glue and clay.Bottom line: NicPro is AMAZING silicone rubber at a great price. I'm never going back to the old 10:1 stuff.

So far do good. Made a couple of molds and very impressed so far. Easy to mix and molds come out great. Lots of detail and seems like molds will last a long time. Will be purchasing more when I use up this batch.

Realice mi primer molde y curo bien excepto en una cara se me hizo raro porque esta sobre un acrilico h en esa cara donde tocaba el acrilico no curo y quedo babosa....reconciliación muy. Bien la silicona...debo hacer más pruebas para dar una opinión de valor y no basada en primeras pruebas

The media could not be loaded. This silicone is very liquidity but perfect to get in all the nooks and cranies of a blank. It cured within 3 to 5 hours which is a time-saver. The mold is sturdy but flexible. I highly recommend it and it will now be my go to for all my mold making needs.

Fooled me twice.Short story. This is the second time I’ve bought a silicone mold from this store/manufacturer and the second time their product didn’t work.In the past I have used the same model and material with another platinum cure silicone epoxy with perfect results.Not their product though.I had decided to purchase their platinum cure silicone because it would come in a large amount but to my surprise I had just wasted another $100.I immediately used this silicone after it arrived and followed the instructions given perfectly. The mold did not cure at the interface of my model where it had before with a different platinum cure silicone from another company.Extremely dissatisfied. I will update this comment when I find the platinum cure silicone that I had bought from the other company that had worked as intended.

I’m new to this. But it’s really fun. And messy. It’s really easy to mix and use. No clumps or anything. Just a nice mold. For a beginner like me this is fun to play with. Hopefully I can get good enough to make some sales of my own designs. That’s my hope.

Did thr trick for what I needed.

Used this to make molds for stepping stones for my garden and little garden animals.. Very easy to use. I might buy more to make some larger garden animals. Having a lot of fun with it. Do recommend!
