Simply the best phone out there, bar none.
I can't recommend this phone strongly enough.I wanted one as soon as i saw one & was not disappointed.. Its so much more sexier than the dull as dishwater brick like iphone, with its gorgeously large screen size, rounded edges, thin profile & its beautifully bright & vibrant screen with its Super Amoled display & Gorilla Glass 2,8MP camera on the front & even a great quality photo from the face camera,& extremely fast & responsive with its unrivaled quad core processor. What can i say,Its just a pure joy to use.I can't imagine using any other phone,i'll be honest. Other smart features that attracted me to this phone are cool features such as the screen will stay lit as long as your looking at it,gesture activated actions for answering the phone, muting it,zooming the camera etc as well as the usual methods. Also has S-Voice,which is the Samsungs equivalent of Siri, which is just as good & other features such as high speed photo taking mode, that can take 20 pictures in seconds,so you can get a good shot while you photograph something moving. You can even let it pick the best photo out of the photo blast(the one in best focus etc).I like the way there's a persistent weather report on the home screen(if you have it activated),nice touch.Needless to say i love this phone. There's too many other features to really go into here,so tried to give a general impressions of the ones that immediately come to mind.

Great phone on paper but very easy to break...
I've had this phone for just over a month now. It's a great phone, superfast, looks great and the screen looks the best I've seen on a phone. Got this instead of the One X because of the expandable storage and you can remove the battery so you can carry a spare; though I was surprised how long the battery lasts even when the screen brightness is turned onto full. Can get a few days out of it with moderate to low usage but I haven't watched many video files on it yet. I also love how the screen doesn't turn off when your looking at it thanks to facial recognition using the front camera. That's a piece of design genius right there that eliminates something that's annoyed me with other phones. What isn't a piece of design genius though is the glass covered front of the phone that sits on top of the screen and runs right to the edge of the phone. This may be super hard gorilla glass that has been marketed to us as something that's hard to break but its still glass and gorilla or not, it can't get around the law of physics. Its very thin compared to its large surface area and therefore very brittle. So a warning to anyone who has bought or is thinking of buying this phone never put it face down on anything that isn't level as I found out last week. Uneven weight distribution, and the fact that the front of the phone is pretty much frictionless caused it to slip really easily off my lap when I was sitting down; it landed right onto the corner of the screen causing the glass front to semi-shatter putting many big cracks throughout the whole front of the glass. It looks pretty bad but everything still works. So I check online about just replacing the glass "lens" on the phone where I run into another design flaw (or a way to make money); the glass surface on the phone can't be replaced without replacing the whole screen (amoled bit, touch digitizer and "broken" glass lens); as they are all stuck together and can't be separated without destroying the whole screen. Price £150... My advice don't take the phone out of its case because it looks better. Anyway given the fact that this device cost so much I really thought it would have been made better. It didn't have far to fall and it damaged it pretty extensively (and new cracks are appearing every day from continued use of the screen). A classic case of looks getting in the way of a sturdy design. Though admittedly, it did look pretty damn good for a month or so...

Good phone - but getting it working was not easy!
Its early days yet, but the phone seems good. What I wanted to report was my issues getting it working, so others might not feel so along. 1. A small box arrives with NO INSTRUCTIONS. I mean, no instructions at all, not even 500 pages of guarantee in swahili! 2. So, being technical, and all Google-synched, I knew I just had to swap over the SIM and set up accounts. But my SIM did not fit! New SIMS are smaller! Now there were videos on the internet on how to cut it down with shears! I chose to pop in to T-mobile and they gave me a new SIM for £10.00 and put it in. 3. At home, with WIFI, the system did a firmware update and rebooted. WIFI fine, but outside no internet even though every setting (confirmed by another trip to t-mobile) correct. They could not explain, but suggested I did a full firmware replacement with Kies - archh! 4. Instead, I did a little Googling and found that on the upgrade, some very important t-mobile information was wiped and stopped all data comms. Here are instructions to put it back in (curtesy of [...]) settings > more settings >mobile networks. then ensure that 'Use packet data' is ticked. click on 'access point names'. if 't-mobile internet' isnt there press the options button (the bottom left on the handset) then '+ New APN'. fill in the fields as follows: Name: t-mobile internet APN: general.t-mobile.uk ignore proxy and port Username: user Password: pass ignore server, MMSC, MMS proxy and MMS port ensure 'MCC' has the number 234 in it ensure 'MNC' has the number 30 in it Authentication type: PAP then press the bottom left options button again and select 'save'. then ensure that the tmobile one is highlighted and reboot your phone... hey presto! mobile data :D 5. Finally, if you have IMAPPed your emails and cannot see sub-folders, you just have to click "show all folders" and touch the yellow folder signs with a ">" and they appear! Happy days!

Great phone but over complicated
So I converted to the Samsung Galaxy S3 from an iphone 3GS as my iphone was on it's last legs and running super slow. First impressions of the S3 are really good, it looks awesome and doesn't feel low quality or cheap as some people have said in other reviews, it does feel a little delicate as the screen runs right to the edge of the phone but you soon get used to it. I live in Qatar at the moment so didn't have a Simm for the phone when I picked it up in the uk but I was able to get it virtually fully functional just through wireless which is pretty impressive. Email Compatibility: It syncs seamlessly to all your accounts be them facebook, skype, gmail, microsoft exchange accounts etc. I currently run about 4 different email accounts, 2 Gmail, one microsoft exchange and a hotmail account. This is where my experience dips a little as while Gmail can setup easily into the Gmail app getting all the accounts in one app as you do with the iphone is more difficult. The email apps just aren't as well written as the apple ones and so took a long time to get setup properly (microsoft exchange was the most problematic) and the email ciient still crashes from time to time now. Music: music quality is good, and thanks to the expandable memory it fits way more music than I had before. Note to people though music saved on the SD card is not accessed by the samsung 4 square playlist feature which is highly annoying if you used to use apple genius playlists. Usability: The phone is awesome, works really well and is generally intuitive once you get used to the notification bar at the top driving everything. Battery: Battery life is way better than my iphone but running as many email accounts as I do kills your battery regardless so it pretty much lasts me a day of proper use where my iphone lasted till just after lunch. camera: The camera is excellent, gives good quality pictures even in bars at night. It is however a little unstable and prone to crashing if you try to rush it. still trying to work out the cause of this, think it might be to do with the auto upload to the web. will update the review if I find it as its highly annoying. Contacts: contacts from all your accounts sync into one contact book which you then control what you see with views. This is pretty good and you can link contacts so you don't get so many duplicates. Conclusion: its better than my 3GS by a long shot, if your a techie and love playing with phones and software then this phone is for you as the phone is awesome and android is so customisable. If your not a phone pro however it not as intuitive as the apple products and so will take you longer to get used to.

Ace. Almost makes the laptop redundant
This phone is as per reviews and gets 5 stars. The screen is better than you imagine. The menus are quick. The options and general layout are many and effortless. Browsing the web via chrome is a really pleasant experience. With a large sd card you can hold media that you would have on your home PC and with cloud storage I find the need to carry my laptop around has gone. The games on this are v.high quality, meaning you dont need to run an emulator to play old games, though you can do that-Goldeneye runs well on this. With a usb otg cable you have many more options and for me this works well as a sat nav. Navigater app with its wordwide offline maps saved me multiple times on holiday. The camera in HDR mode takes brilliant shots and of course being able to camcord HD video AND take photos is v.handy. Ive had no problems connecting to my computer and transfering files. The only gripes I have are that the volume isnt very loud. For just over £400 considering all the devices it can replace I highly recommend it. The blue is also very shiny and pleasant in person.

Nice phone - with issues
I bought this to replace an ailing smartphone and, as it is a Samsung, it links & syncs with other Samsung kit that I own. I'm not a fan of large smartphones but this one is only slightly larger than the one I had - the screen border is thinner, so makes the viewing area seem bigger and therefore easier to use. The phone has all the usual apps and features expected of a smartphone these days BUT there are some issues: 1. On occasion, even where it is known that there is a good 3G reception, the phone will not recognize the fact and reports either a poor signal, or worse still, a 'no service' or emergency calls only' option. This is disappointing to say the least. It is apparently a known flaw for this model and the best way to resolve it seems to be a 'hard reboot', where you take the battery out of the back while the phone is still switched on, wait 30 secs, reinsert the battery and start up the phone again. This seems to work for a while but after a day or two you are back where you started. 2. On occasion, when connecting to wifi access points & hotspots, the system will 'check the quality' and ' disable' it 'because the internet connection is slow' - which is particularly galling when it happens at home, where we have a 50mb cable internet connection!. The 'hard reset' method also seems to cure this problem but not always. You can also 'Forget' the connection and then rescan but of course as it forgets the access code, unless you have a note of it for the system you are connecting to, there is the whole rigmarole of logging in again. In general, it's a good phone - nice camera, good battery life (certainly vs the old one I had) but considering how much I paid for it, not perhaps as good as it should be. I've read about firmware upgrades on the web but am reluctant to take this step as there are also stories of turning the phone into a brick, which would then involve even more expense getting it fixed. It would be interesting to hear of others experiences and what if anything they have done to improve things

Quite The Smartphone
I've always fancied a high spec type of phone having previously owned an htc wildfire, but was always unwilling to spend over the odds for one. With the S4 arriving I thought now was as good a time as any to take the step. Still more than I thought I would ever pay for a phone, but convinced myself I was buying a tablet and a phone. I prefer the HTC type android user interface/skin....and I still do if i'm honest, although would concede that other than the look of the skin it obviously does the same thing. The phone itself is superfast, especially compared to my wildfire, and does what you ask immediately and with no need to touch the button a second time due to the phone not registering my touch. It has plenty of gadgets being an android phone and can handle any app I can throw at it. The quality of the screen is immense and I'm delighted with the quality of playback. The pictures it takes are exceptional (although I'm certainly not an expert on picture quality, it just looks great imo) and the quality of the video is mind blowingly crisp and clear, even in low light conditions. I did worry the phone would be too big, but have been pleasantly surprised at how manageable it is. It is super thin and really light and thus you can sometimes forget it's in your pocket, which considering the size of it is hard to believe. I bought the official samsung cover for it, which replaces the back cover with an attached fold around cover. This mainly protects the screen and not the sides but it also assists and keeping the phone as thin as possible due to not having a fully enclosed cover front and back to bulk up it's size. Battery life isn't great if you use it a lot during the day. If you do use it regularly you will be charging it daily and my first few days with it meant a daily charge. Since then I have onlu used it when required for calls and checking facebook and have made it to the end of a day with over 70% charge remaining. So if you want to watch videos all day and play games then you better keep the charger handy, if you use it a bit more sparingly then you will likely get a good 2 days out of a charge no problem. The only slight downside is it does feel a bit plasticy when comparing to the htc one for example, but doesn't seem detrimental to the overall feel of the phone. If you have butter fingers and drop your phone then you may have issues with the casing, I don't intend to drop it anytime soon so should be fine!!!!! Overall I would say I'm delighted with my purchase and if you want an all singing all dancing phone which looks great and has excellent screen quality in order to play back the excellent HD videos the phone can record....then this is the phone for you and at a fraction of the price of the S4, which does much the same thing.

Fragile. Worst phone I have ever owed!
First off this is a great phone. You get quickly use to the size and you soon find all other phones are too small. This phone is frgile! I bought the Otter box commuter case which is a great quality case, however I dropped my phone on a doorstep from a distance of around 3.5ft. I was astonished to find the screen had shatterd and would no longer work. This is pathectic. I have seen drop tests on youtube and seen this phone withstand greater impacts without a case. I can't explain this. The glass on this phone goes right to the edge so any impact is devivered right across the screen. The I phone at least has a aliminium ring to absorbe an impact. Goriller glass? Where do they get these names from? The shatterd mess fragments like the cheapest glass you have ever seen. You can throw a brick at a car windscreen and it will bounce off and hit you in the face! Glass has been around a long time and the strenght og glass has been perfected years ago. I can only assume they make them weak to make money on repair or replacement. People say they have dropped this phone and its fine. Ask them next week. it will be broke. Another thing, its stops charging. Plug it in over nite and it will be at like 40% in the morning! Moreover if you exit an application such as text messaging and then open another application it will go sraight back to what you where doing before! I dont want that! My prvious phone was the HTC desire S. The best phone I have ever had til I smashed it. I have since repaired the phone myself for less the £30. Im back using it now. I would keep it but takes forever to get GPS if ever. I dont want to become an I-geek but I need A SMART phone with google maps ect. Gutted about this phone. Its costs around £150 if you repair it yourself but whats the point? It will break again next week. I have owed Samsung before and they have been great apart fron having the worst camareas ever. I have had Samsung phones that have been in the washing machine and still worked! Where did it all go wrong? I blame Apple, but as much as it pains me to say - they are making better phones or at least more durable. Forgive any gramitical mistakes Im drunk and gutted
