Not wonderful
First, I put one of these on a light pantry door and it closes it on the lowest tension setting. So far so good. Now I tried on a downstairs toilet door which opens back to back with our front hall door. I wanted to make sure the toilet door was closed when someone comes in, as otherwise the doors get damaged. This one was not successful. Unfortunately, you only discover this after drilling a hole in the door for the plastic guide, so it isn't as though you can just remove the closer. The first problem is that even the light force between our carpet and the bottom of the door is sufficient to stop the door from closing. I tried several different tensions without effect. The instructions say not to overtension, as that could buckle the springs, but give no indication of how many notches constitute overtensioning. After three, the spring was sounding uncomfortable, so I gave up.The second problem is the loud noise these make. It gets worse the more tensioned the springs are. Is there no grease packed inside there? The third problem is that some plastic blanks are provided to fill any unused holes on the central tensioner. You can use them, but you will never get them out alive, I promise you. If you need to adjust or remove this closer you will destroy them in the process, and they are not easy to remove, either. I needed a combination of Stanley knife and pliers to remove them. So, on very, very lightweight doors with no carpet beneath, you may get away with using these, if you don't mind the noise of creaking doors in a haunted house.

This is a good quality product and I had no problems fitting it ...
This is a good quality product and I had no problems fitting it to a hallway door to prevent the draft going through the house when the front door was open. I fitted it to the bottom of the door as I thought it would be a bit less visible as opposed to the top of the door as shown on the box. - I think my placement proved correct although it is personal preference. - The only issue I had was that the springs were very noisy when the door was opening and closing as I have seen noted in other comments. - I was going to take it off again after a couple of days as it proved very annoying however I decided to try spraying in some WD40 and that worked a treat. The noice has not dissappeared completly but has much reduced to an acceptable level. I had no problem setting the spring tension to close the door nice and smooth.

Better than expected
Before I bought this I read some of the reviews. They were not all good, but I thought for the price its worth a punt. I'm pleasantly surprised. Its a good product. What I like about this product is it's nearly silent on operation. Many interior door springs make a noise loud enough to wake young sleeping children. It looks better than the top of door large door springs, so its a winner all round. People commented on one screw for the plate that the bar sits against, suggesting there should be two screws - rubbish the bar keeps the plate in place and running correctly, two screws would be a disadvantage because the plate would have to be parallel to the bar to work which would be hard to do with two screws.

Pulls the door to
Just attached this to ore door. Which keeps getting left open, to my great annoyance. So the pull is light but easily enough to 'close the door to' . If you need the door to completely close then these aren't strong enough, you will need the fire door type. But for me it's better than - wide open, 'let's put the fire back on'

You'll need your own raw plugs
The media could not be loaded. Doesn't come with raw plugs. For the screws you need 4x 6mm and 1x 4mm.Easy enough to install, instructions are straight forward.

Surface mounted automatic Spring Door Closer
Works well for me. I only want it to push the bathroom door to, not close it fully. That it does on the lowest setting. with a nice easy movement. Just enough to push the door to with little enough resistance that even a child can open the door effortlessly. There is a little noise from the hinge but not troublesome. My bedroom is opposite and even with my door open the sound doesn't disturb me. It's about the level of rain being blown onto a window. From reviews I have read of cheaper one I am glad to have chosen this one.

Works well - 5 star rating would require silent operation.
Pros:Easy to install.Easy to adjust tension.Tools/screws required included.Affordable.Heat retention in rooms much better as my kids rarely close the door after them.Cons:Bit Noisy - would avoid if you have to sneak into a room with kids sleeping or partner sleeping.I use two these on two down stairs reception rooms.Oh and 1/5 stars for my kids... ;)

It's quite good, but could be better presented.
The door closer is quite good. It just about manages to close our kitchen door. Our doors are solid wood, farmhouse type, so are quite heavy. A few things I found irritating: the packaging is the moulded plastic type that you need to cut off. Very wasteful and overuse of plastic; the item is not the same as that in the picture, although it is similar; the instructions are very poor and don't appear to be for the model supplied. So, a decent enough product let down by poor presentation and instruction.
