Art teacher recommended and did not disappoint!
Yup! My art teacher recommended this paper block and wow it is so nice. Its compact so you can take it with you where every you like to paint. Easy to get the page up with a fingernail yet it stays in place super strong while you are painting! Excellent quality paper great value, super sturdy perfect end product! Go for it! You won't regret it!

Super quality paper
I've spent decades painting on just about everything out there. My favorite has usually been Fabriano. I researched this paper on youtube, and one lady knocked it for not allowing as much paint lifting as she was used to. Ironically, I had a chance to test that on my first painting when I accidentally splattered some usually staining purple where I didn't want it. The paint lifted to pure paper white. So, forget that nick. One of my favorite things to do is portraits, which demand a lot from paper with the layering. This is about as good as watercolor paper gets. I doubled my purchase after trying the first sheet. My new #1.

Pleasantly surprised!
I’m an Arches snob. I’ve used Arches for decades and never thought I would find anything to compare. I’ve tried other cheaper papers in the past, always with disappointing results, but the reviews of this paper convinced me to give a try. So glad I did! So far, this paper is performing every bit as well as Arches. The paint moves just as I would expect. The paper is nice and sturdy, doesn’t wrinkle, and scrubs well. I’m a convert!

Great paper
This is great stuff. I thought it was supposed to be a bargain, but the price point is right up there with the other 100 % cotton paper that I buy. That’s primarily why I gave it 4 stars. The YouTube videos talked about it being better value, but I found it to be about the same.

Great tough paper
This paper is great. It holds water and gives you time to work with watercolor. It does not fall apart when dry brushing. Good value.

Vibrant!
I love this paper. I might like it more than Arches for one simple reason; the colors show up more vibrantly. Arches tends to mute pigments just a tad in comparison and I love the vibrancy of this paper. It also is very resistant to warping and seems a sturdy paper. The only thing I dislike is how difficult it is to remove a sheet from the block. I’ve used arches, fabriano, canson and agave watercolor blocks and all of them remove easily. But the NYC sheets are tough to get off the block. Not a deal breaker, but would be nice if remedied someday

Good for some, not my favorite.
I’ve heard people raving about this paper and wanted to try it. The block is good and heavy, paper thickness is nice. The surface feels almost burnished, with very little tooth. The paint seems to cauliflower more easily than on other cotton papers (such as Arches, Rubens, Deyton) and I was having more trouble achieving even washes. That said, this might be the perfect paper for other artists, I just like a paper that absorbs the water more evenly. Others have had more positive experiences though!

Good product
Has a nice texture. Wet on wet technique works very well able to lift colour. This is the second time I have purchased this product.

Perfect water colour paper.
I was very impressed with this paper seems to work quite similar to Arches cold pressed paper, at least the 5x7 size pad does.
