What is it about this kit that makes it unsuitable for beginners?

It is not an easy kit. in any sense of the word. It is not a Snap Together. There are LOT of small and Large parts. The engines will require a lotof care to put them together. The paint scheme and decals are complex. If you do not a lot of experience building complex kits or are a beginner: DO NOT BUY THIS KIT.I say this to help you avoid being totally frustrated with this kit.I would say to try the Polar Lights/AMT kits first. They are easier and will help buildup your skill level.

It comes with the lights?

No lights but does come with two bottom saucer sections and no top section.
