Of course it is a little bit hard to tell if you don't know if the boy is small or a little bit big but these shirts are not really slim-fit. These are more like an American fit so a little bit oversized.

I would get a size up as they are quite tight fitting.

You can go extra size, I wear L and ordered XL and it fit perfectly. I hope this is helpful.
