Q: Is this sensing pin screw in? Wondering if i can chnage for a flat foot?

Not that I’m aware, but same price / make metre available with different sensing pins related to substance you want to measure.

Q: A stupid question perhaps, but does the needle tend to/always puncture the material being tested?

In my case i am measuring silicones with a hardness of 60A and no, it does not harm the material being tested. I do not think that would be the case with softer materials either.

Q: Does this instrument come with a Calibration Certificate

No it did not come with a calibration certificate. We bought it only for approximate and comparative checks.

Such a bargain - this was bought to test rubber ...

Such a bargain - this was bought to test rubber formulations and works very well. Checked against a much more expensive version and it tallies well. Even comes with a spare battery!

Useless

I purchased this Shore A and a similar Shore D durometer. I bought them for onsite inspection. After my purchase I had no immediate use after a period of one year, before using, i tried to make sure they are calibrated. I sent them for calibration, and both failed. They said they are not calibratable... basically useless. They are still in pristine condition and brand new in their box. I suppose i cannot return them anyway....

Item arrived damaged and without calibration documents

When I opened it the facia was scratched. There was also no calibration certificate which is standard for a precision instrument. I have returned it for a refund. It appeared to be used that was sold as new.
