Q: What’s the actual length? The photos show a shorter gown than the video.

I am 5'3 and it hits my knees. BUT, the racerback in the back is adjustable so you can make it shorter or longer.

Q: Is the material see through?

Material is not thin, I did not get white but would not think it would be “shear”

If I understand the question correctly, then yes this will fit a 52 inch hip. For example, if the measuring tape is places around the body in a circle at the hip, it will fit provided you order the largest size available.

Q: Why the dishonesty with the fabric?

I am not sure what you mean. It is regular soft fabric for a night gown. I have 3 and they are fine.
