Q: Will this fit a square rail?

Hello, the item shower caddy telescopic shelf rail is round, the hook diameter 24 mm and 25 mm included. Advise you if the shower shelf rail hook diameter meet the request, we think can fit, otherwise not.

Q: Will the weight of the shelf once bottles etc are placed on it, compromise the shower pole and make it weak i.e loosen it from the wall?#

No it won't compromise the shower pole once it is weighted with shampoo bottles etc. There is a sturdy clamp underneath which attaches to the pole that takes the weight. We are very pleased with this shelf - it is a nice size not too big. Hope this helps.

Q: Is there a minimum required distance between shower pole and wall?

The min you will require I guess would be approx 1.5 " from the wall to the centre of the shower riser pole. The securing block drops down into place against the raiser rail & is secured @ the front underneath ( see diagrams in description). You cannot randomly change the height for different individuals, unless you take the required tools with you in the shower! You could pack the shower riser rail mountings away from the wall if insufficient distance. The item is provided with a selection of spacers for different diameter riser rails too. Worth noting the shower head holder is on the right & there are ( or was) no hooks for draping flannels onto. However, I personally put the shower head in it's original holder on the riser rail & use the shower head holder on this tray for draping the flannel over.

Q: can the shower holder be set on left side ?

Hello, the item shower shelf Do not recommend you set it on the left, the shower tidy organiser holder is to the right side. Hook diameter 24mm, 25mm. Large Area. High Quality.
