What size wrist does this splint fit? I need it for my 16 year old son - wrist 6" at thinnest point

this fit me and my wrist is 6" too. It is very well made and very comfortable, and excellent value as it can fit either wrist (if you get another injury in the other hand/ carpal tunnel etc). I have been very happy with this product both in quality and comfort. Hope your son is better soon.

How thick is thumb strap? I want a support while playing violin and thick material between thumb and 1st finger prevents playing in high positions.

It is about the thickness of a seam on ladies jeans, but softer. It does keep the wrist straight, so if you can play with a straight wrist then I should Imagine it will be great for you. I find them very comfortable and have to wear at night times.

Can you drive whilst wearing this support an my wife's CTS is awful when she is driving

Yes you can drive and play sports (golf) to a limited extent. You get some side to side wrist movement but movement of the hand in vertical plane is restricted.

Is this the correct splint for recovery after a broken wrist (plate fitted)

I'd check with your Dr first. As may not be suitable for your recovery. Just a note tho. The wrist brace does come with a removable mental splint .
