Yes it works well but is not as fast as the Altera part - it is, however, very good value for money !

If the original usb blaster supports it, this should as seems 100% compatible.

Q: Does this device work with icestorm?

I doubt it. Icestorm is for Lattice devices. Byteblaster works with Altera devices and proprietary tools (Quartus).
