OXO Good Grips Silicone Jar Spatula, White

Bought this item to use with my Vitamix and it is fantastic gets so much food out from around the blades and so easily. I would buy OXO products initially as I have arthritis in my right hand but they are much more, all of the OXO products that I have are so beautifully designed and actually do what they claim so don't just get left in the draw after a few uses. I'm glad I bought 2 and check out the comparison video one of the other reviewers has left, its all you need to see!

I love this spatula as it's so handy for getting into jars and scraping out the last bits. Also really good for baking, as you can have more manoeuvrability. Longterm use can cause a split across the spatula though.

Unlike a spatula that may be used when baking, this has a far longer and narrower blade in order to allow access into the narrow-necked jars as typically used for honey, preserves such as jams, marmalade and chutneys as well as sauces such as horseradish, tartare etc. It is also slightly concave on one side, a shallow spoon in effect, to better contain the substance being extracted. "OXO Good Grips Silicone Jar Spatula - White" is partly of silicone which will make it quite heat-resistant should it be ever used while cooking (quite unlikely as there are others that are better suited) and, as part of the 'OXO Good Grips' range, provides an excellent and very comfortable, rubberised grip. A long-term fan of the brand, the original introduction came many years ago as a proposed work-around for a family member's arthritic hands. That was a potato peeler that lasted for about 12 years and its continuing longevity led to additional purchases. In later years, some were purchased for personal use not as aids to combat an impairment but purely for their inherent quality, longevity and ease of use. Several are now owned and regularly used. They may be slightly more expensive than others but the price difference isn't great and is more than compensated by other advantages. This spatula has the obvious advantage of overall length which should allow it to reach into quite deep jars and its relatively long blade is able to hold a reasonable amount. The blade can also be used to spread when required using the reverse, convex side, for example in cake-making for icing or cake fillings in the absence of a palette knife although its shaft is quite stiff. Although many of the brand's products are available from Amazon and other UK-based sellers, this was only available from Amazon USA making delivery slower, especially as it was 'Pending Despatch' for about a week.

This is a superb spatula. One side is 'hollowed to hold material from the jar. Its silicon with some sort of stiffener built in like a bone, so it does not flop all over the place. The shoulder gets the stuff that normally stays in the shoulder of the jar.

Sometimes it's the little things that count - and finally being able to get every last morsel from the stupid bulbous bit at the bottom of the peanut butter jar has made my life just that bit better. This spatula is nice and long and the head is just the right size for jars, margarine tubs and just about any other container that needs scraping out.

The blade is basically rigid with slight flexibility right at the very edges and tip. Useful. 👍👍👍

I was wanting a small rubbery spatula for using on my jars of mayo/jam/mustard etc when they get low. I was wanting something small and extremely flexible that would also last. There are tons of cheaper non brands out there and I didnt want to waste my money on something that wouldnt last. This looked the closest I could find. Now that its here, its larger than I wanted, the handle is quite long, I dont think it needs to be this long - I mean how big are flipping jars??? The spatula part is okay, I was hoping for something more flexible but saying that Im sure will do the job. Its just bigger and firmer than I personally was looking for. I will be keeping it until I find something better. Im happy to get the good make as Im sure it will last. Someone please make smaller kitchen items, we are not all huge blinking ogres!

I use these with my Vitamix. Very comfortable to hold and gets every last bit from the bottom of the container. If you are careful they will last years as my last two did. Eventually the tip breaks off. No other spatula works like these in the vitamix.

Good tool! The quality of Oxo kitchens tools are fantastic. Super recomended.,easy to use, easy to clean and perfect to storage.

The spatula absolutely works for me, and I use it to work though my starters in jars which may be difficult for normal spatulas to reach.

If you've ever tried to clean out the last of the peanut butter from the container or tried to scoop out all the contents from the little tomato paste can, you'll understand the usefulness of this amazing spatula. The square nosed, slim design gets into all corners of any can, jar or container and its sturdy head doesn't yield to thicker food items (I'm looking at you peanut butter). So many uses! I ordered two of these and will now be ordering more for gifts for family members. Shipping on this item was quick and reasonably priced considering it came from overseas. NO REGRETS. The only downfall? They're always in the dishwasher because my family of four uses them all the time!

I wanted a scraper that was slim and can get into smaller jars and containers to scrap out the little bits. I have looked at local stores and could not find anything I really liked. So I just looked on Amazon and found this one. Like how the scraper head is all in one with the handle, less likely to have germs and mold, like with those with removal head. The head is not too big nor long. About the right size. Like that both sides and the tip can be used to scrap jars. Like how the scraper is curved so one can use the scraper as a spoon to dig food out of jars or containers. Just makes cleaning out containers bit easier. Its very useful. I like that OXO makes this scraper. The price is about right with this product. The product seems to be well made. The scraper has some weight to it, its slightly heavier than other scrapers I used. The product was made in China. :( This is one of those products that everyone needs to have in their kitchen. Great for gifting. Update: 12/9/17 - ordered another one of these scrappers for my mother. Also order other OXO size scrapers to have a matching set. really love the OXO scrapers. I was using other scrapers with removal heads. I went to use a scraper with a removal head then the head came off and there was mold. I was horrified and disgusted. That is why I order different sizes of OXO scrapers. I loved how OXO scraper head was all in one, so there is a very slim chance of mold and germs being present. I am not the only one who washes the dishes. Have a few who will stick everything in the dishwasher, a few will wash stuff by hand. Some don't think about scrapers with removal heads having mold, germs and trapped food in the head between the wood or plastic. Don't think about removing the head to clean it. Its gross when found. I find these OXO scrapers to be safer for that reason. Hopefully that will give some insight. I don't mean to scare but its reality and it happens.
