impossible to program
three different dealers and I am out almost 400 bucks trying to program this module as a replacement. Yes, read that correctly..this module IS NOT PLUG AND PLAY. It must be programmed with a GM TECH 2 read and write tool (essentially a computer hooked up to the obd2 port). This process takes no more than 45 minutes from start to finish. However, none of the dealers using the correct GMC tech 2 tool could even detect it when it was plugged in. They could see the old module that was failing., so it is clear that their tools were working correctly. obviously this is a defective part that was never quality tested! To be clear, the old RKE module was working but intermittently it would not work with the remote key fob..apparently it got soaked with water when the third brake light shattered and allowed rain water to run down through the back window pillar into the RKE module. The previous owner of this truck did tell me about this problem before I bought it and he showed me that in order to unlock doors, you have to be very close to the back window where the RKE module is located with the key fob. At any distance further than a few feet the module would not respond to the key fob remote..So this is why I wanted to replace it. I also replaced the antenna for good measure. what ended up happening is that I had the last dealership reinstall the original RKE module, keep the new antenna so that I could at least use the remote key fob.. So on top of the cost of this RKE module, at 90 bucks plus tax, I also paid almost 400 bucks for three different dealerships to try and get it programmed. 500 bucks down the drain because the module is defective.

Complicated
I never ended up using this. It seems a bit complicated to use even though you can purchase it online for a low price, you still have to take it to a dealer or somebody that can program it. I just got used to the door staying locked will probably toss it.
