The good news, the plastic piece that goes in the ...
The good news, the plastic piece that goes in the stand worked perfectly and seems like a really good reliable float valve. Our tree laster until January 8th and never dried up, with very few needles falling off when we moved it out of the the house. The bad news is the bag that you're supposed to use is absolutely atrocious. There's no way to hold this open and fill it. I ended up spilling more water on the floor trying to refill this every few days than I would have just using a pitcher straight in the stand. The hole to put water in is too small, and there's no useful way to hold the bag open while filling. Once you've got it filled you have to figure out how to out the cap on, without the water coming out the front. Camelbak has already solved this problem with their water bladders and I think next year I'll swap out the bag for a camelbak bladder.

Great Concept-components too primitive
Great idea-primitive components. Water bag too thick and rigid with side fill opening-difficult to add fluid once hanging on tree. Float valve assy. too large to fit in most tree stands with larger trees. Diameter is too wide. Stiff rod that is supposed to keep float assy. in place too small to fit in float assy and kept coming off. Overall, the design and components are primitive, but, the concept needs more refinement. Not a good value for the price. I was able to modify some components and make it work and it provided about 4-5 days of watering without having to refill the reservoir.

Good idea, bad product
Loved the idea, but the product is poorly made and designed. The threading in the cap is hard to match up (and awkward when trying to squish it on the side of a full bag of water). The bag is really heavy, so hanging it on a branch that you can reach but is also strong enough is really difficult (the only branches that could hold it on our 9ft tree were deep near the trunk). And then after a few days it started leaking. I really wanted this to work, but it’s just not quite right.

Works Sporadically
Only worked sporadically... it took a lot of fiddling to get it to start dripping, but it did for a few days. On the next fill and from then on the base emptied out and the bag volume didn't change. I think the issue is with the cheap float that gets bound, and easily gets stuck from sap and needle debris.

Missing parts
So, I bought this a couple of weeks ago and never bothered to open the package until this evening when we put our tree up. The support rod and velcro strap are missing, so I'll have to cobble something together before a full evaluation. Unfortunate, but serves me right for not checking when it arrived.

Pretty sure we got a dud....
Great concept. Easy to water tree while on my feet. However, trying for several minutes and calling my husband into the room for him to try several minutes to screw on the cap is beyond frustrating. The opening is on the side, not the top. Water ends up spilling from wrestling with the container. Since we began using it we have not been able to get the cap to close, not even while off the tree and empty.Next year we will look for the same thing from a different company. It didn't fit on our stand so we tied it to the base of the tree. Also, we got at $15 in November, now that it is close to Christmas I notice the price gouge up to $20.

Don't Bother ... Questionable "elf logic"
Does not work. Hung as described in the sparse directions. Fouund that that whole bag drained, overflowing the stand reservoir and making a mess on the floor. Don't bother. Maybe try the iv that taps into the tree trunk itself?

Part that is supposed to go into the tree base ...
Part that is supposed to go into the tree base will not fit. My base has plenty of capacity but also a lot of plastic structure. Scotch Pine has such thick foliage that it's not practical to hang or access. Next year will work out something with a reservoir and siphon.
