You have to buy a warmer to melt the wax,a paraffin wax warmer and it usually takes 4 or 5 bricks to fill up a warmer as they are large or maybe you can find a smaller one that takes 2 or 3, feels good to the hands though,they have these at manicure pedicure shops sometimes as well, if you get one you dip your hands 2 or 3 times and feels like a warm glove ! I'm sure you can mix it, just don't know if you'll be pleased with the combo scent. Are you using the wax/paraffin for medical therapy or for spa use? If it's for spa use you're good with this wax. However, if you're using it for therapy you might want to check a medical supply because it is a different wax they use. It's thicker, a higher melting point and stays warm longer. Hi. No. I had to buy 3-4 to fill Then see how full it is and add accordingly. I haven’t had to start from scratch in quite a while. I just add one or two as I go now. Hope that helps a little.

You could, if you wanted to. It has a standby mode where it will stay on but not at full heat. It is intended to be used that way in salons, so that when they arrive in the morning, they can heat the wax up to therapeutic temperatures more quickly. If turned off, the wax will cool back to solid form, I believe the standby mode keeps it just warm enough to keep it liquid.
