Love the game
Great game. The big box allows many variations of the game to be enjoyed. Played with children 9 yrs+ and they all picked it up straight away. Box fantastic for storage of the expansions.

Best value Big Box out there
Great Selection of expansions at an exceptional price.Delivery was swift and product arrived in perfect condition (this often isn't the case when buying games online). The included expansions work very well together although I wouldn't recommend playing with all 11 at once unless you've got an evening to spare (3 at a time seemed to work best for learning the rules, plus of course you can just add certain elements from expansions, e.g. just adding the builder to speed up gameplay). The box itself has very satisfying storage compartments for each expansion so you can keep everything separate (no more cramming as many expansions as possible into the base game box).Overall best board game purchase of 2018 for me.

Nice all-in-one Carcassonne game collection
My mom and I have been playing the base Carcassonne plus 3 expansions for over 10 years now. We were playing with expansions (1) Inns & Cathedrals; (2) Traders & Builders; and (3) Abbey & Mayor. Years ago we replaced our base game with the 10th Anniversary edition, which adds two mini-expansions: The River (12 tiles) and The Festival (10 tiles). The Traders & Builders expansion contained a handy cloth drawstring bag to hold the landscape tiles from the base game and all expansions. We have played the base game and expansions almost every week over the years, and the wear is showing on the tiles. They are still usable for sure, but the edges are fraying and the tiles sometimes stick together when pulling them out of the bag. This new Big Box (2017 version) is a fantastic replacement! The landscape tiles are updated with brighter colors and new artwork. The box itself has a nice built-in plastic insert to organize and separate the expansions. It does include the Inns & Cathedrals and Traders & Builders expansions and The River mini-expansion.For us, it does not include the Abbey & Mayor expansion and The Festival mini-expansion. The original expansions ARE compatible with the 2017 Big Box version, but the artwork and colors are different and therefore not an exact match. (The original game was published by Rio Grande games, while the 2017 version was reprinted and is published by Z-Man games.) I decided to buy the Z-Man version of Abbey & Mayor which matches the Big Box. The Big Box plastic insert obviously does not include a place to put the Abbey & Mayor tiles, but since we always play with the A&M expansion, we have just put those new tiles in the cloth drawstring bag, which does fit in the Big Box.As far as The Festival mini-expansion, we still wanted to use it because the 10 landscape tiles add a new feature that allows the player to optionally remove one of their figures from a tile instead of placing a figure on that turn. The original Festival (10 year anniversary) expansion IS compatible with the Big Box version, but it is the old artwork. There is a new printing of The Festival (15 year anniversary) with the updated artwork. The new version of the Festival is somewhat difficult to find, but I was able to buy one from eBay. :)Big Box (2017) Pros:- one box includes the most popular expansions- updated artwork compared to original Rio Grande version- box includes plastic insert to organize and separate expansions- includes one comprehensive rule bookCons:- does not include Abbey & Mayor expansion- does not include The Festival mini-expansion- does not include cloth drawstring bag (normally included in Traders & Builders expansion)Verdict: Great upgrade for owners of the original base game and expansions, or great starter set for new players!

Everyone should have this game, even if you've never tried a modern board game
Our family is pretty lowkey about board gaming. We have Catan and Carcassonne, and we play others (Wingspan, Ticket to Ride, etc.) from time to time.My personal fave is Carcassonne because it's easy to learn and the game play is really fast. Two people can finish a game in 30 minutes, for example. If you want to spice things up, there are game extensions in the big box set that you can use to add complexity. My son uses the extensions, but personally I'm not looking for extra complications in my life. So I'm all about the vanilla version.Have fun!

More Carcassone, More Value
There is a reason Carcassone is still regarded as a "gateway" game. It is basically fun in a box. A BIG box that is! Eleven expansions plus the base game. You do not need the expansions to make Carcassone a great game, it is that in and of itself. However this is exactly why the expansions complement to the base game well, they are what expansions are supposed to be: add ons to a great recipe, not meant or needed to replace or fix a broken base game. The actual gaming experience thus far has been pretty much perfect from a "fun factor" standpoint. Certain expansions included here add new tiles to the base game (The River, Inns and Cathedrals as examples) and that is really my favorite part, being able to expand even more through tile placement. When playing with all the expansion tiles, I need a second table to fit them all!Keep in mind as well that you can mix or add any amount of expansions to play at any one time. All are compatible with one another and any can also be played by itself with the base game. You can also play all included in the big box but I myself have not attempted this (yet). This big box certainly gives you a lot of value if you already do not own many of these expansions. The box comes with an included insert and instructions on inside of lid on how to organize it properly. Very good rule book separating explanation of all expansions clearly.I can honestly tell you the only drawback is not having more time to play this! And by that I do not mean the game length is long, it is not long at all in fact unless you add a high amount of expansions in a single game.If you like Carcassone and only have a few expansions, get this. If you are new to Carcassone and think you may like it, get this, because it really is a fantastic game all about creating your own Carcassone through tile placement then vying for control of cities, roads, monasteries etc. which lead to victory points. In either case the value given in the big box is well worth it.Fun Fact: You can actually fit everything featured in Big Box Carcassone in the original base game only Carcassone box. It's a little surreal! So if you have original Carcassone and are worried about space, that might be a solution for you!
