Truly amazing bit of kit
Brilliant peice of equipment. Cooks the best of everything as a dutch oven. But it's a double dutch oven and the lid is great for cooking steak and eggs or anyway you like it. Or maybe a full English breakfast. One of the best things I ever bought .very economical with electricity costs all time high.retains heat amazingly well.

HEAVY METAL
I have baked dozens and dozens of sourdough loaves in this since buying it, and it handles sustained oven temperatures of 240°C with no trouble at all. You can bake loaves in it upside down so it functions like a bread cloche. You know the one, the one from the fancy brand that costs three or four times what this costs. I have had the skillet in my barbecue at ludicrous temperatures and it emerged unscathed asking if that was all I've got. This is an enormous lump of black metal. I suspect it might be bulletproof. It's exceptional quality and it will almost certainly outlive me. I love it and I will look after it. My children will probably fight over who gets it when I'm dead. Their children will probably find it and have to ask their AI overlords what it is. Anyway, this is really good. If you're looking for a top-tier cast iron pot just get this.

Can only recommend
I've had this one for nearly 2 years using it regularly to bake bread. It's the perfect size for a regular 500gr flour bread. It retains the heat well and keeps moisture in. Mine came in perfect condition, but even if it had a little chip that wouldn't be an issue, as those go away with use and seasoning. I've oiled it occasionally and it still looks like new. Perfect quality cast iron at a really good price. These are heavy pots, but that's what to expect from cast iron. I've a couple of these in different sizes and constellations. I love using these and would never use other non stick pots.

Versatile quality dutch oven will last a lifetime
This is my favourite cooking pot. Ignore the reviews who complain of rust or poor quality casting. The pot needs oiling after use and the casting quality is good. Apart from being used as a dutch oven. The pot can be used for cooking anything, stews and curries look fantastic in it against the black colour. The lid can be used as a frying pan, once long time seasoned it does perfect fried eggs, no sticking. The pot is also useful as a chip pan, because it holds so much heat, the oil does not cool down quickly when chips are added giving a good crisp chip. Good as casserole dish in the oven. I use it for sourdough bread, use it upside down, tipping the dough into the lid, then place the oven on top as the lid. Highly recommended will last a lifetime, and gets better with time.

Great for sourdough bread
I first made a sourdough loaf in the oven, just on a tray and it came out very flat with no oven spring. This dutch oven is perfect for creating good bread with a good oven spring and nice crust. I needed to send the first one back, the quality is good but i think the quality control is poor, therefore the first one had some rust and a few chipped areas. The second one is fine. Worth the cost and wouldn't use anything else to bake bread. The size is good up to about 500 g loaf (small/ medium). I tend to bake two loafs one at a time.

Genuine article
This is a fab genuine cast iron pot, we seasoned it again ourselves just to make sure we burnt off any residual oils from manufacture. Will last as I last!

Great new addition to my kitchen. Love it for Sourdough bread!
Perfect for baking sourdough bread. I have also used this for frying up chicken and steaks and stewing in the oven. It arrived with a little rust mark on the handle but that has disappeared with seasoning and everyday use. I am really pleased with this Dutch oven and highly recommend it. This is a from the Lodge website for anyone who may have read some of the negative comments and who may be concerned about spots on their newly purchased Dutch oven from Lodge. My new Lodge seasoned cast iron cookware has a spot or mark that looks unfinished. What is this? When you get a new piece of Lodge cookware, you might notice a small spot or mark that looks unfinished or rusty. This is all a part of the process that makes cast iron special! We season our cookware with oil on a hanging conveyor, which sometimes causes a small spot or bubble to form around the edge of the skillet or on the support handle where the skillet was hung. The seasoning process is all-natural and makes your cookware ready to use as soon as you get it home. This variation might chip away, revealing a brown color. Don’t worry! This isn’t rust and it’s perfectly safe—it’s simply oil that has not fully carbonized. With regular care and use, this spot will disappear. It’s a testament to cast iron’s ability to roll with the punches and get better with age.

Proper Useful!
Perfectly sized Dutch Oven pot with twin handled skillet-shaped lid. If I'm being honest, I bought this because it was the only way I could obtain a skillet which had been proving impossible to buy in the UK. The Lodge cast iron pans are simply the best on the market to my mind, and I have many different sizes of their products, which once properly seasoned are just bombproof. I wanted to get the skillet as I regularly use my cast iron cookware outside on our Big Green Egg kamado oven and anything with a long handle sticking out makes it a challenge to fill the griddle up and to be able to shut the lid easily. The small twin handles on this Dutch oven pot lid are just perfect and allows me to move the skillet from the hob to oven without any difficulty. Once you've given the ironware a couple of decent seasoning coats, the ease with which you can clean the pans is something that always amazes our friends when they see how quick and easy it is to simply scrub it under a hot running tap using a metal scrunchy. A quick wipe with a very lightly oiled kitchen paper and it's a good job well done! I haven't yet needed to use the actual 5 quart pot, as it is really the lid that gets my daily attention, but suffice to say, I am 100% pleased with my purchase.
