Needed an insert slate to replace (a good) one I lost. Information on the face of the slate is PRINTED ON THE SURFACE -- not etched -- so after a few HOURS of use, it began to fade. Then I could not completely erase my own writing-- as you can see in the included photo. It costs about $14 which gives credence to the old saying "you get what you pay for". Thankfully, I can return it and have.

I used this once on a film set for insert shots. When I pulled it from my bag, the following week, the dry erase marker from the previous week would not come off AT ALL. I discovered this *during* a film shoot. I tried all manner of cleaners to remove it, until finally using acetone (nail polish remover) which also removed some of the paint and gloss from the slate. This is not the only slate I own, but this is the only one that has ever had this problem. Now, I have to stick paper tape on it in order to use it. Buyer beware.

I needed a smaller slate/clap board so thought this would work. The product page clearly states there is a magnet, which adds the subtle snap for sound alignment, but there is no magnet anywhere on the clappers. Dull thump sound only. Do not buy this if you actually plan to use it in any production.
