I was debating between this and a Kindle. This had so many more features for the price. I got it for a deal on Prime day which worked perfectly because my mom's birthday was a few says later. She loves it so much. It's easy for her to use. It's lightweight and she can fit it in her purse. She can read and use other features. It has very great picture quality for the price. The touch screen is very responsive. The charging is easy and the battery life is great! She loves all the different entertainment options available.

When my new Kindle (my 4th) arrived, the instructions did not work. Supposedly a problem with “authentication” and password. Wasted HOURS on the phone with tech support. Long hold times, many transfers — still nothing. Finally figured it out on my own, without help from Amazon.The device itself is wonderful. Great picture. Sound even better. Has a 3D “surround sound.” After a month, I still hear sound that seems across the room.Very happy with the device, but totally dissatisfied with customer service.

Overall it's a great reader, a little slow, but at its price a good value. However, the new TTS system (Assistive Reader) needs to be able to run while the screen is off, like the previous versions. Otherwise, the battery use is ruinously high, and the possibility of inadvertent touch interaction is too common. For users like me, I use the TTS to play a book in the background while I do other things, so having the screen on isn't necessary and distracting.
