Bought this in an emergency after my old Fluval 403 failed, had a delivery problem but it turned up unexpectedly after saying it would be delayed for 5 days, on the upside customer services were very reactive, it's a good bit bigger than the Fluval, build quality is excellent bar the baskets which are a little flimsy but work, the included media is junk but hey it's free, ditch the bio balls, no use here, you can stick some of the ceramic media right in the bottom below the baskets then get some pond sponges, the three grade ones and cut them to fit the bottom basket, there's room to get one of the included white mats on top, the other two baskets you can fill with your favourite media, I like Alfagrog, that's it. Runs quiet, flows better than my Fluval, the way the pipes unclip is excellent and the included pipework more than sufficient. Totally recommend.

I’ve used many different top branded canister filters, but I will keep going back to all pond solutions. Good quality materials, media and deep thought processes gone into their products. My tanks all have improved from beneficial bacteria to cycling since switching over to these filters and my fish have also improved in health and size. Noise is low and you can purchase spares and parts from the Amazon store or direct on their website. Easy to install with very clear and precise instruction book (even providing guide on how long you should wait before changing each part), filter isn’t too large, minimalistic appearance and very easy to clean with not too many complicated media slots tucked here, there & everywhere! Its just three basic trays, an internal lid and then just the impeller. Very basic concept and won’t give you too much of a headache like other filters brands. You can also change the media types if you wish, and it’s also not complicated. Plenty hose length. Two types of output type to opt from - duck beak or pipe with holes. Can extend intake pipe to length of ur choice. The way the hoses affix to the rim of your tank is pretty ingenious whether you are rimless or have a thick edge. I feel APS thought of everything and this is why I will be sticking with them for my canister filters.

I had an Eheim that started leaking slightly and bought just about every seal for it and it still leaks a tiny bit and so just had enough of trying to resolve the problem. Looking around I could not believe the price of this and thought I would give this a go as it was less than £50, was new and the reviews were great.I must say it seems fantastic for the price and although I had a smaller filter going in my tank (a Fluval 4) to keep it going (as the Eheim was not working properly) once I put this this In the tank it made a huge difference to the clearness of the water. I got a bit confused with the putting together of the inlet and outlet pipes, spray bar etc..., as the instructions are not brilliant and there are lots of different parts and I was confused around the protein skimmer one and the spray bar cap (which you don't seem to need) but went on Utube and worked it out.Once connected and primed (which was easy to do, unlike my Eheim) I was up and running really quickly. The tubing is a good length and should be more than adequate for most tanks (mine is a 4 ft) so would need to be cut for some. I was very surprised at the size of the filter as it is pretty big but as I have 2 cupboards underneath mine it fits fine. All in all for the price it is brilliant and I have just ordered one of their internal filters for one of my smaller tanks to see what that is like. The only concern is that I have read reviews that say that it does no where near 1000 litres per hour and is nearer 500 or under but all I can say is my tank is very clear, the price was brilliant and all in alI I am very happy given that most external filters are £100 - £200. Bargain!

this is my 3rd AllPonds filter, and as expected prior to ordering its a cheap canister that dose the job and dose it well.a few things to note. i ordered the 1000EF. a simple no thrills filter.... i would recommend getting some new pipes, this model comes with cheap plastic ones, that on mine had a split in the plastic uplift, not an issue i just cut the bottom 3inches off where the split was and problem solved.. this system dose NOT come with the skimmer on the inlet as shown in the videos and pic. skimmers are not essessintal but they really are useful if you have one, keeps the surface cristal clear, in my case as an ex smoker, i understand that things in the air settle on the tank and it helps alotnext thing to note is, and it might just be on this unit as none of my others have this issue, the plastic is really thin and not very sterdy, will it work, time will tell, but its holding its shape and water and thats what matters.next i would like to point out is that all external filters make some noise, it happens, this one, at the moment, is rather quite but i did half to take the impella out and give it a good wash b4 use as there seamed to be some form of fine dust or grit in it, prob off the media which brings me to my last point... the included media, excliding the bio balls, is useful as only bin filler, the included fiber filter is inconsistent in thickness and weve and the cramic rings were disintragrating before i even opened the plactic bag they came in.this is a budget filter that will need more money than just the unit spending on it, if you already have media knocking about and a set of pipes then wonderful, put it on some styrophone or a rubber mat to help the noise, clean it out and you wont go wrong, but if you dont have other bits about, replacements sponge/weve/mats/rings are cheap, be prepaired to spend 20/30 quid on new pipes and media though.i shall update in a few weeks once its had time to run in and work its self outUPDATE: allpondsolutions sent me replacement pipework, that arived today and is now installed on the tank. The photo is moments after a big 50% wc and is already cristal clear. Great customer service and a wonderful experience as always

Very quiet, easy to set up and operate! I turn mine off most nights and never needs re priming! Excellent product and very robust!
