a beast! read about my shower use case
We have REALLY HARD WATER.I use an Aquasana filter and replace it every 6 months but that doesn't stop our hard water from turning my bleached platinum hair into a nasty mountain dew yellow color after about 4 shampoos. Then I learned that if I wash my hair with distilled water: I don't have any issues with my color going yellow.(water softener is out of the question - we rent and there's no place to install one even of we didn't)So I started washing my hair by pouring distilled water into a cup and rinsing it that way.But OMG that was so danged cold, took forever, and was just not effective.I knew I needed a different option. So I pulled out our battery operated shower head and the 5 gallon water bucket from the camping equipment bin.And bought this immersion water heater. It works great! If you have a similar use case you need to know that this immersion heater will turn 5 gallons of room temperature water to a shower worthy temperature in 15 minutes. Any longer and it WILL SCALD YOU!If you buy this set please know that it comes with an immersion thermometer. The thermometer has a long cable and there's a remote with the temperature display at the other end of the thermometer cable. To get an accurate temperature, keep the thermometer cable immersed near the surface of the water, not at the bottom. If you keep it at the bottom the reading will be about 15-20 degrees cooler than the actual temperature (my tests done with a 5 gallon bucket). Not knowing this made my first couple showers scalding hot.For my use case I could have gone with a lower powered immersion heater, but I like that it only takes 15 minutes to get 5 gallons to a temp where I want it to be.Lastly, if shampooing with distilled water sounds expensive and insane - it may be a little over the top, but we already had a water distiller to produce water for plants, DH's CPAP, and the espresso maker. I only do a full shampoo 2x a week and it takes me 2.5 gallons to get it done. Other days of the week I just rinse which takes only 1/2 gallon so it doesn't take as much water as you think.Because my hair isn't turning yellow anymore my color lasts a lot longer, saving me $ and reducing damage to my hair due to needing fewer process treatments.Net: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Worked perfectly. I found the wire gauge to be thick enough.
Read a few reviews before I bought this like I always do. Worked perfectly. Yes, the cord does get little warm but this would be normal for almost any heater which in effect a controlled short. Thats what generates the heat in the coil. I think the other that left notes about wire tempature ether left it plugged in way to long or dont understand basic electricity. I found the wire gauge to definatly be thick enough.

This product works very well at warming up water. When I give my dog the bath it definitely helps with the temperature of the water. Works great for small kid pools. BUT Not a reliable product I’m going on my third one. It’ll give you about four uses and it then it dies. Because it’s expensive i’m going to try one last time….. but it’s frustrating that you only get four uses out of it.

Works well.
No complaints with this product. Does exactly what it’s designed to do. Water can become extremely hot.

Funnier than Dave Chapelle
When I opened the box and the paper read "Must Specification For Use" I knew I had struck product gold. I excitedly extracted it from the plastic bag that only covered 2/3 of the product making the bag entirely pointless. I had prefilled my tub knowing that this giant dildo shaped delight would arrive. The temperature gauge let me know my tub was precisely room temperature...72 degrees. I plugged in the Big Black Cord and watched it bubble a moment. This was humanities triumph over lukewarm water. I just knew it was. Granted, there are about three hundred and fifty two warnings but to be in the bathtub with it, but I was having a hard time holding off as I watched that temperature gauge skrocket over the course of an hour from a loss than impressive 72 to a sweltering lava like 74 degrees!!! In only an hour!!! I swear I was about to spew my magma, but I wasn't going to steal the job of this warrior. I unplugged it and my wife scurried in giggling quietly as she stole my precious and locked the door. Out came the KY and what ensued ensured us of a contentious divorce. I'm not willing to live with 72 degree water now that I've felt 74. Yes my skin is covered in leathery burns, but I don't care. She is suggesting shared custody. Like I'm some sort of fool. She'll follow the instructions where it tells your to "Avoid forgetting to catch fire". That's my job! Needless to say, just don't. You'll regret it in a profoundly soul impacting way.

Essential for van life
I bought this for my sister who is taking a gap year so she can travel a bit. Apparently living in your van is doable if you have the right tools. This is a fun little gadget and definitely a must have item. She can use it to heat water for tea, a shower, bathing the dog, filling up her hot water bottle, etc. It's important to remember to fully immerse it in the water before you plug it in. Otherwise it is very simple to use. It's very easy to store because it is so small. Once you roll up the cord, it fits into your bag or a junk drawer.

Used for inflatable hot tub, but burned out quickly
Heated water quickly, within 30 minutes, for small inflatable hot tub. Unfortunately only worked for about 10 uses.
