Yes the Numatic nrv20021 uses standard three pin plug. Have found it a very powerful vacuum cleaner albeit a rather heavy item to move around the home and for carrying upstairs. It's very easy to empty the dust pouch and the long flex is very useful.

Is this moel as powerful as the previous version with the Hi/Low switch with the switch turned to Hi?

We had the old Henry with the hi/low switch previously but I can assure you that the suction on the new one is as good if not better . There is only an on/off switch on this model but It really is very powerful .
