## Overview

Smirk and Dagger's BOOP is a fast, engaging 2-player cat-themed strategy board game featuring 32 wooden pieces and a soft quilted board. Designed for ages 10+, it combines adorable aesthetics with deep tactical gameplay through a unique boop mechanic that shifts pieces each turn. Matches last 20-30 minutes, making it ideal for quick yet meaningful play sessions among friends, couples, and strategy enthusiasts.

## Description

BOOP is a charming but surprisingly tactical two player abstract game where every kitten placed causes a ripple of playful disruption across a miniature quilted bed. Each move instantly boops adjacent kittens one space away, creating constant motion that turns positioning into a delightful puzzle of timing, anticipation, and clever maneuvering. The objective is simple yet tense: line up three kittens to upgrade them into cats, then form a row of three cats to win. With both players actively booping each other's pieces, each match becomes a spirited contest full of dramatic swings, shifting patterns, and unexpected opportunities. Inside the box are thirty two beautifully crafted wooden kittens and cats, along with a soft quilted bed board that enhances the cozy theme while keeping players immersed in the tactical gameplay. BOOP teaches quickly, plays in twenty to thirty minutes, and suits ages ten and up, making it an excellent pick for families, friends, couples, and competitive duos. It blends adorable presentation with strategic depth in a way that keeps players returning for another round of clever, mischievous fun.

Review: Simple rules and short playtime make for a fun, quick game - As much as I like getting out a game that takes an hour to play that plays best with four people, sometimes you don't have four people and hours to sit around. Boop has rules which are readily explainable in a few minutes, setup is easy, and you can complete a game in probably 10-20 minutes, even with having to explain the rules. This makes it very appealing to people who aren't going to like to sit through a game that takes 10-20 minutes for board setup and then probably 30 minutes of explanation of the rules. There are elements of other common games present here, like checkers, connect four, dominoes, and othello, so a new player does not feel overwhelmed by the play actions, and it does move fast. In terms of content, there's nothing in this game that's remotely offensive. The game pieces are well made -- cute cats and kittens. Acceptable for any age to play, and you don't need to be able to read to play. The rules do have a variant for younger kids to be able to enjoy the game. Teardown of the game is also very quick, the pieces and board store easily in the box. No complex folding or arranging required.
Review: Very fun! Love it - Wonderful quick game! The pieces are well made with the “bed” being a quality fabric piece and cats/kittens very cute. The instructions are well written and the pictures are an added help. It’ll the age range says 10+ but it does gives instructions on how to play for younger kids too. The normal play was understandable to an 8 year old though. Very pleased with purchase and I think it’s worth the buy and would be a quality gift.
