Are these ok to give instead of hay as my rabbit is not a big hay eater?

How many can my rabbit have a day there is no info on box.

I've been using these for years. All our buns get 1 of these a day (increased to 2 if their weight is on the lower side e.g after illness) but I don't worry too much if they have another half as a treat. 2-3 sticks seems to be the most common amount and should be fine for most buns. I wouldn't feed any more than that personally as it may promote weight gain. These are in my opinion the best 'pellets' out nutritionally - however they are *not* sticks of hay as another comment suggested and are not a substitute for hay. They are pellets with a higher than usual fibre content. It is very important that a rabbits diet is at least 80% hay. These are not simply compressed hay and are a good addition but not a substitute. Try to keep them as airtight as possible, they get soggy if exposed to air and buns go off them (think like a biscuit would, no one wants a soggy biscuit!)

I feed them instead of pellets, as a treat. My rabbit is a mini-lop, and when she was about 7, she started getting eye infections, which the vet said was because her tear ducts have been damaged by overgrowth of her teeth from not feeding her enough hay. I used to feed her mostly pellets, but they said pellets should only be a treat. So now I feed her mostly hay and grass and leaves and twigs from the garden, with a few of these Fibafirsts as a treat (she loves them).

Hello, This is a balanced food for rabbits/small animals that is suitable for daily feeding instead of other foods. It is not specifically a treat, although you can feed sparingly as a treat if you want to.

Mixed reaction at first, but with perseverance are now a key part of daily diet.

Update after 8 months (stars changed from 3 to 5):At first my bunnies adored this treat, they could not get enough of it, but the novelty wore off and they stopped eating the sticks after a month. However, the nutritional content of the fibafirst sticks is excellent, very high in fibre which is beneficial if you have bunnies that have previously had gut stasis problems. They also help with keeping teeth nice and trim.So after giving them a break I persevered and it paid off. My bunnies now have a few sticks plus a few science selective nuggets morning and night, and they always eat them. This has enabled me to reduce the quantity of their nuggets and I'm sure will help maintain a healthy weight, in conjunction with lots and lots of hay. As a bonus the 2kg box really does last well! Make sure you keep a peg on the top of the bag as I the bag tag is easily lost and it is important to keep the fibasticks fresh.I would recommend to others, but you may need to persevere. Rabbits, like children will go for 'new' or less healthy options, so make sure to only offer them a range of healthy foods!
