My 4 star rating is based on my impression that this would work admirably if used in its intended purpose but reduced by 1 star because of an instructions problem - see below.I've no doubt that this would work admirably in its intended location of an alcove or in a cupboard where there is a degree of roughness to the walls. In fact, I wanted to use it in a shower cubicle as a temporary rail to hang wet coats so that they can dry overnight (using the showers ventilation) without dripping on the floor. I was concerned that the rail would not hold on the smooth surface of the tiles, especially with the weight of wet coats, and this proved to be the case. I had various ideas in mind to fix this but these proved unnecessary when I realised that a row of decorative tiles in the shower protrude slightly and this is sufficient to prevent the rail slipping. I am, therefore, please with the product and would certainly recommend it subject to the caveat that it will not hold on smooth surfaces thought I do not consider this unreasonable.A couple of other points;The instructions provided with my rail were for a different, sprung, design and did not help with the fitting of the rail supplied. The instructions online, however, were correct so this was not a problem. This is why I have deducted a star from the overall rating and the ease of installation rating.'Sturdiness' is difficult to define - it is completely adequate for what I would regard as reasonable use but clearly would not take a large number of heavy items (e.g. wet coats). I am in no doubt that it is strong enough for my needs but we must be reasonable about this.Finally, although the rail is fitted with a threaded clamp (one reason why I chose it) the force that can be applied with the clamp is limited because the length adjustment compresses if the clamp is tightened more than to moderate levels. This prevent tightening it really firmly in the gap - if this were not so it may have help on my tiles.

I do not recommend this product because it is not fit for its purpose. I have bought this curtain rod because my brother had bought similar curtain rod from the same brand and same seller before in 2022. To my surprise the newer version that I bought is not even holding on the wall. It is very bad quality with rattling noise of the spring. I will not buy anything from this seller and this brand again.P.S. The seller is also using older good quality product pictures mixed with newer bad quality product pictures together to confuse buyers.
