HIGH strength--high quality..
These tie-downs are indeed a high-strength alternative to bungee cords. Other than the obvious usage parallels there is really little about these tie downs that compare to bungees. I currently own several sets of this style tie down. The most recent ones I purchased were black in color and purchased from Lowe's. You can get them in many places of course, but for the most part they are all pretty much the same. Same design, same metal hooks, same tough material, same limited stretch. These are really designed for TOUGH jobs. For holding a lid on a trash can, they are just not needed. After using the black ones for some time (about 4 years..) I found them to be cracking. This is probably because of exposure to the sun and elements. UV resistance is one of those things that eventually comes back to bite you on items used outdoors. So I wasn't surprised when I found the cracking. I just decided to replace them all when the first one broke, and that happened about three weeks ago. I purchased this set of four tie downs and another set of three ...( 3-piece 20" Rubber Tie Down Heavy Duty Motorcycle Car Truck Bungee Straps Cords in a longer length which this review applies to as well. After examining these tie downs and pulling and stretching them for the last ten days or so, I think I can safely say that these are better than the black ones I am now replacing. These appear to be made of a different material (hybrid polymers..???) where the black ones were a form of rubber of some sort. I don't know if that is good or not, but it apparently is fact. In retrospect, there is little to choose from between the two in the way they function. The black ones always seemed to work fine (up until they started cracking and breaking..) and I expect these to function the same. These will apparently stretch up to twice their length which I don't think the black ones would do (at least I can't recall ever having tried to stretch them that far..). These appear to be more cleanly molded and won't make your hands black. They appear to be smoother too. So, overall, I think these may be of better quality and perhaps a better value as well. The only thing that is still to be decided is how long these will last... And that may take a while to determine..!!I am giving these HD tie downs five stars. High strength and high apparent quality makes them a solid value and a recommended purchase if you have a need for something stronger than conventional bungee cords.

Hello everyone.I think it's very important to write the specific review about the product I bought few months ago. The reason why it's so important because it's a safety related issue and it's dangerous. After loading some of my stuff for camping trip all 4 straps just broke and I start losing everything along the way. So what I want to say that the straps is not a reliable they fail big time. I was lucky that none of my kids was around the vehicle at that time.

Great product!! Pretty close to worth the price.
These were great. They were well made, completely functional, and they make packing so convenient. Unlike the very cheap versions of this, they are very well manufactured, the hooks, are coated and they do not have an odor. I use them to section off a few stacks of boxes behind a big piece of cardboard to keep my cargo from shifting too much in my van. I also use them to strap in boxes of the supplies that I use in the packing of my van. They are utterly convenient and make the cloth bungies functionally obsolete (plus the hooks on the cloth ones are cheap and unruly, difficult to find a perch with without bending the hooks into a more usable shape). There are only three downsides with these,. 1) They can get tangled up, so If you have a piece of metal closet racking it makes a great hanging rack for these. 2) They really are a little bit on the pricey side despite how great they are. 3) You have to keep an eye on them, as they work so well they tend to get uh - "borrowed".

Stay Away From These
Essentially worthless. Could not take even moderate stretching before breaking. I guess you get what you pay for.

Disappointed because I thought I was getting rubber tiedown bungees as the product title states. These are NOT rubber and in the smaller print description it states polymer. I don't understand the discrepancy and will just have to see how they work. Based on reviews I am cautiously optimistic.
