Packed with great tips
You can't beat Lonely Planet guides. I am getting inspired and planning my journey now...! I do yearn for more colour photos but I can get them online and wouldn't sacrifice all that info for big pics.

Good guide.
This is an updated version of the older Lonely Planet guide I had. I would recommend it not only for the information on each area but also on the culture, history etc of South India. It is also light enough to travel with which is important to me.

Good overview but missing detail
It is a good overview and as such tries to cover too much. It aims at all types of travellers from backpackers to high end which is difficult for a country like India. The information were very superficial and more detail would be appreciated. It misses important detail a such as where to go and guidance of charges or where to find the up to date information. I used to buy Marco polo for my European trips which much more can be used as a tour guide with historical information. This is something i missed in this book. A lot of the do's and don't are applicable for rural areas but the more metropolitan towns such as Mumbai and Bangalore are more progressing towards the west and some suggestions of what you should do would look awkward (backwards) to the locals.

Has many of the features of the last book's edition and a few additions. Overall a fantastic guide to Kerala and one I will use again when I go back.

Lonely Planet guide books are still worth it!
Great info, as expected. It’s still worth getting a lonely planet for your trip, despite having a lot of info on the Internet available these days.
