First, let me point out that this device is not a "splitter" in the sense that it will duplicate a signal from one HDMI device to show on two monitors simultaneously. Rather, it can "split" a signal into one of two screens, which you switch using the button.This device is self-powered (it gets its power from the HDMI signal), and barely larger than the HDMI connectors themselves. Essentially, it senses the direction based on the signals being sent to it.There are two ways you can use this. Either one input device (which you plug in at the top) with two output devices (each plugged into the bottom), or two input devices (plugged into the bottom) with one output device. In the first scenario, the button will switch the output from device 1 to 2 and indicate the active display using the LED. In the second scenario, the device will switch which HDMI source is active and indicate it with the LEDs.If you are looking for a way to use one television or monitor with two HDMI sources, this device is perfect for you.

I like that it is a bi directional function.

reason i got this was so i don't have to keep swapping hdmi in and out on my high end graphics card

I am using this device for my pc and iptv box. for some reason it can switch from iptv box to pc with one click but you can not switch from Pc to iptv box without phisicaly disconect pc hdmi cable. its very uncomfortable.

very easy to use and robust.but the product could be more useful if the switching could be automated instead of manual through a button.but overall a great device

Both inputs need to be powered on, otherwise there is no output. So if like about all of us have 2 PCs, power one of them down and you have no pass through signal. If you unplug the powered down device then it works as a pass though. Did they decide a 2 cent diode was not worth it? Is this really how this is supposed to work? Packing got thrown out so I guess this one is going in the trash and the hunt for a decent device continues…
