We studied Sanskrit with Dr. Kumud Singhal who taught the language in a very logical and intuitive way. This is captured very well in this Sanskrit grammar book. We find it very useful as a reference and use it frequently for its tables and examples. We highly recommend it to beginners as well as intermediate students, adults and young alike. This textbook is an inviting book on learning the complex Sanskrit language. It is uniquely bright and cheerful and hence very appealing. The layout is intuitive and gives the overview of Sanskrit, starting with charts on alphabets, vowels and consonants. It covers the basics of grammar and various sandhi rules, active and passive voice usage. For intermediate students, the book contains many colorful tables of verbal conjugations and nominal declensions, frequently used suffixes ("pratyayas"), adjectives etc . There are numerous examples throughout. Also included are grammatical analysis of some verses from Bhagavad Gita. We would also recommend the companion Sanskrit story book by the same author.

Sanskrit is not an easy language to learn but this colorful book with flowcharts, tables and numerous examples makes it easy and fun to learn Sanskrit.The book is easy to read and understand. This is one of the best Sanskrit books I have come across. The book is organized very intuitively and makes it very clear what the basic building blocks are. The material is also very well presented. I highly recommend this book for all those who are interested in leaning Sanskrit (all levels).

An excellent book for children who already know how to read in Devanagari and are beginning to understand sentence formation in Sanskrit.
