These type of retractable leads tend to suffer quickly from wear and tear to the mechanism depending on the build quality of the casing and lead itself. I’ve had many in the past from various companies where the lead just stops retracting or the switch to hold the desired length of lead in place when walking the dog stops working after 4-7 months of everyday use. You also need to be sure you have one strong enough for the size of your dog and their behaviour when on the lead such as if they pull you while walking or stand alongside you.I had this particular one for 10 months before the locking mechanism started to play up which can be especially dangerous when walking your dog in built up areas which may need you to quickly press the lock button when needed.In my opinion with these type of leads and how they’re manufactured it’s just a matter of time before the eventual wear and tear of the lead material and the lock mechanism breaks so no matter what the type, quality of make or how much you spend on them they will probably not last more than a year or so if you’re walking your dog twice a day for an hour.With this particular company I got in touch with their after sales team and they sent me a new one free of charge when I explained what had happened. This was all dealt with very quickly and I was very happy with the speed of the replacement as well as the efforts of the service adviser to rectify things to my satisfaction.Very happy overall with the service received and quality of the product but just be aware that on average any lead of this type will probably not last more than a year with moderate use which is no reflection on the company itself but more so on how the leads themselves are manufactured.However if your dog is small and not strong when pulling on the lead itself then you will probably get far more mileage than I do just make sure you get the correct type in relation to the size of your dog when buying to be sure that it will be suitable over time.

Lovely lead for my strong chow chow / husky.I can’t really let her off lead as she’s got a terrible recall and gets distracted by everything she sees but this gives her some freedom when out on walks.

Firstly, I’ve seen reviews where people are saying “my dog chewed through it”... I have a Pom x Bichon pup who has razor teeth and he’s had a quick good chew on it and there isn’t any damage at all, if you don’t want anything to get destroyed it’s a good idea to store away from your dog.This is a sturdy lead and I purchased a very expensive rope lead before this but this one is now our favourite. It gives him the freedom to run ahead or behind but it gives me the control to protect him. It’s really strong and durable, I like the fact it also has the light reflectors for night walks. I would reccomend this to anyone, especially for the price it’s amazing.

Very satisfied with this purchase. On opening the box I thought the lead would be too bulky and heavy, but the design is such that the handle fits comfortably in my hand and I'm not aware of the weight. I bought two, one for a small terrier type dog weighing 6 kilos and the other for a large mixed breed weighing 22 kilos and at times I can hold both leads in one hand. The One Button&Lock System is well positioned and easy to use and the leads retract smoothly. I need to add that both dogs are well trained and don't pull. Amazingly good value for the price, and I would buy again.

Clearly a mistake! This isn't suitable for any dog let alone what it claims. All information is wrong. Nothing like the photograph. I will have to use this for my rabbits! This product is misleading. Not even branded. Extremely disappointed. Not 5m it claimed in description this item I got sent is only 3???

This product is advertised as being suitable for SM and L Dogs up to 50kg. At the Medium and Large size they would need to be very well trained to walk quietly at heel without pulling. My two 6mth old Cocker Spaniel pups at 13kg (untrained) test these leads and any dog heavier would doubtless cause damage to the leads. The rubber covered handles are comfortable to hold but the button mechanism is inconvenient; by depressing the large button it locks the lead length. To release the lock it is necessary pull the small button forward,the lead is then free to run in or out. It would have been better if the large button only locked the in/out of the lead while it was depressed without it automatically locking movement as it does. This would allow for greater control of the dog as it moves dynamically back and forth.

Used this leash for my now 9 month old husky malamute, he weighs around 25kg. I used this leash as well as with a harness as he’s a very strong boy however, after only using the leash for a month or two, it has completely broken. The line now no longer retracts and sometimes the button doesn’t push in to allow me to stop my pup in time. He’s very well behaved on a wall and doesn’t pull but this leash now rattled when you shake it which indicates something has broken inside. If you have a big dog, pay the extra money for a reliable, strong leash.

Didn’t think this would be good as my dog is pretty dam strong and pulls quite a lot. However once I put this on him and he has abit more freedom he walked better and it also retracts well to and doesn’t get jammed like most dog leads. Good price to would recommend!
