This kit has everything you need to connect an American-style fridge to the water supply that is required for the ice and chilled water function. Specifically, the thin line which carries the water into the machine is much smaller than the standard pipework of the water supply itself, and the kit contains the reducer necessary for making the connection between these two gauges of pipe.The only thing is - it contains a long length of the thin 'pipe', which is usually unneccessary, as the refrigerator itself will always come with this, and it comes with 2 reducers, one of which is for the US (where the pipework is a different gauge from ours) and completely unneccessary for the European consumer.In short, you're paying for far more than you probably need - which is, simply, the reducer.Also, the reducer supplied is a compression type, which relies on the water pressure to ensure its seal and success. The absence of a thread and more old-fashioned design, in this respect, is something I find worrying! However, ours seems to be holding!
