Great fun even with a tantrummy six-year-old
My little niece (I don't think my sister would like me to use her name) is a delightful child at best, but doesn't like losing. I was a bit apprehensive about introducing her to a new game, because I was afraid that if she didn't win she would have a tantrum. To my great relief, though, she and her nine-year-old brother had a great time with it. The game itself is easy to learn (though admittedly my niece often had help), the pictures delightful, and play contains plenty of chances for the lead to change hands without being too random. The authors have done particularly good work in making sure the rules are clear. At one point, in a round when the winning score was 40 points, I scored 45. My niece shouted "You broke the roo-els!" I referred to the leaflet in the box, and there is a roo-el which says that you don't have to have that exact number of points to win: just to have that much or better. As well as playing it with the adults, the children also played it by themselves, which I felt was a sign of its success. As the game involves only cards, it would be easy to take on journeys to play in a train or aircraft, though I haven't let my sister remove it from this house because it was so popular here. The minimum age limit of 8 is probably sensible, because it requires arithmetic, but as the queen cards which have the scores on them don't have to be kept secret it is quite possible for a child who can't add to leave them out in the open and have someone else add the scores up. Strongly recommended.

Lots of fun, teaches sportsmanship, everyone in our family enjoys this game.
This is our favourite game to play as a family. We have gifted it to a couple of friends and would highly recommend it. It has racked up more playtime than any of our other games and often we will play two or three rounds back to back. One game can be about 10-20 minutes. When we first got it we had to play through a couple of times but once it clicked it’s a very easy concept to pick up. It’s been great for teaching about sportsmanship - there’s no point losing your mind if a play goes against you as you might be able to pull it back round later, and you can’t be too hurt by an aggressive play as that’s the whole point of the game. It’s difficult to overstate what a positive impact that has had - turning ‘attacking’ moves into silly, funny moments has eased a lot of tension between my 5 & 7yo and that’s a great thing to learn in board games. My highly motivated, game-loving 5yo picked it up quite easily but it took my less motivated older child a few more goes to get it - thankfully the artwork and characters pulled her in. Even Granny cottoned on after a few plays! Really recommend this game, it’s a lot of fun.

THIS GAME IS SOOO GOOD IT WILL MAKE YOU WANT TO STAY AWAKE!!
‘Sleeping Queens’ – oh my God! This is SUCH an addictive game – I’m already hooked!! I don’t know why, I knew nothing about this Game, its Inventor or anything, but, I’ve been purchasing a great number of Card Games recently, and I saw this, and loved the artwork and just had great ‘vibes’ about it! Not often anything like that happens without even a slight disappointment as things are seldom as you expect, but this... I cannot fault the Game! I just want to keep playing, playing and playing - win or lose! I kept my partner from going to bed the day we got it because I wanted to keep playing, yet I hadn’t won a single game at that point! The mechanics of this Game are simple – yet have enough depth to them to both make it interesting to play, and to make it tactical as well as just ‘luck’! The theme is delightful, and the quality of the artwork and Cards is brilliant! This is one Game in my collection (almost 800 now) that I shall CERTAINLY be wearing out! (I can see myself purchasing another coy in readiness!) There’s got to be something wrong where anyone could not give this five stars - and it has NOTHING to do with the fact it was devised by a child; I didn’t even know that when we first saw and wanted it! Every game is different! FABULOUS and now one of my all-time favourites! :-)

Lots of fun
Sleeping Queens is a charming and quick-to-learn card game that's perfect for family game nights. Designed for 2-5 players, the objective is to wake up the most queens by using strategy and a little bit of luck. The game features colorful, whimsical artwork that adds to its fun, lighthearted vibe. Players use number cards to perform actions like waking up queens, stealing queens from opponents, or putting queens back to sleep. There’s also an element of strategy in choosing when to use your action cards, making it a blend of luck and tactics. The game is easy for kids to pick up (ages 8+), yet still enjoyable for adults, with enough depth to keep everyone engaged. It’s fast-paced, typically lasting around 20 minutes, which makes it perfect for shorter play sessions. With its simple rules and engaging gameplay, Sleeping Queens is a great choice for both kids and adults looking for a fun, casual card game.

Great for kids and adults to play together. My 8 year old loves it!
My 8 year old daughter loves this game and it's one I actually enjoy playing with her too. You have your 12 queen cards asleep face down in the middle and hold 5 cards each. You play number cards either singly, or in matching pairs or in simple number equations, (4+6=10 gets rid of 3 cards in one turn. If you play a king card you wake up a queen, play a knight and steal someone else's, unless they can play a dragon to stop you. Play a sleeping potion to put someone elses queen back to sleep, unless they have a magic wand....First one to wake 5 queens is the winner. The cards are good quality with appealing pictures and though it's very luck based this works better when playing an with adults and children mixed. My daughter beats me about half of the time without me trying. I shall be trying some of the other gamewright kids card games now as we have played this one so much.

Pkay this with my 7 year old a lot. It took her a few games but now she can beat me! It's easy enough to pick up and interesting to play with some competitiveness regarding stealing queen's/putting them back to sleep. The instructions aren't too clear on what to do with a number card if turning one over after a joker (do you add it to your hand or leave it on he discard pule?) but that's really the only fault I could pick. We really enjoy it.

We are huge game family. This is a great game to play with our younger grandchildren. It is easy to learn but has strategy and memory components as they learn the game and get comfortable playing. It is a fun a clever game and one of our favorite kid games to play. The game have great replay value.
