Q: How well will this clay work molding detailed sculptures to be cast in plaster to make a negitive? Will i have to use a release agent?

Clayette is softer in comparison to most other non sulfur based clays and easy to work with. It will capture good detail similar to wed clay, and can be used with a plaster negative. No release agent is required because it is oil based but many artists prefer to still use a mold release such as ease release 200 when working in silicone or universal mold release when working with resin. If your sculpt requires very fine details I would suggest using a harder clay such as Chavant NSP medium or hard but if you prefer a softer clay, this would work just fine.

Q: Can I warm it a little bit in a pot pourri pot to make it softer to work with?

Wow - no idea. I never tried that.

Q: can you just leave the clay out and will it dry evencholly

Does not dry out, oil based clay for sculpting. If you want it to dry out and solidify, you want a water based clay.

Q: Is this a soft or medium firmness?

Its a medium firmness. I love working with this clay. It 's very malleable and it holds its form beautifully.
