Sondergut - Chess/Checkers Roll-Up Travel Set Leather

Pieces are a little light, other than that no complaints, I wanted a chess set that would take up minimal storage while maintaining a bit of style and I think this hits the nail on the head, this is something you could carry in a coat pocket without it being noticeable and not be embarrassed to pull out in a coffee shop or whereever.

I originally bought the backgammon set from Sondergut, and when it arrived I was thrilled by the quality of the product. I immediately ordered the chess set as well. I wasn't disappointed. The two sets are identical in size, the backgammon in a brown leather and the chess in a grey colour. The pieces are a good quality, and the board is a great size for travelling. The leather, despite being rolled up, lies flat, and the texture ensures the pieces don't slide around. Beautiful quality and fantastically practical - if you want a travel set buy this - you won't be disappointed.

ABSOLUTELY FANSTIC! This chess set is so well made and so beautiful to use it is now my main and only chess set. I am a complete convert. Will buy a second one as spare just in case.

Perfect as replacement or additional pieces for the Sondergut travel set. Probably not so good for a full sized board as the pieces are only approximately 20mm diameter. Well made from a hard plastic/bakelite type material with no visible moulding marks. Very pleased.

I had the backgammon version and this is just as good. Brilliant quality and perfect size for traveling.

I very rarely leave reviews but this is worthy of making an exception. It is fantastic value for money. A shoddy cheap wooden chess set will set you back a similar amount, yet this oozes quality and is so convenient. Perfect for taking down the pub, camping, festivals. Bloody love it!

I saw this product in a really cool puzzle store on my trip to mallorca for €69. As a man who loves cycling, camping and playing chess I fell in love with the product as soon as I set my eyes on it.Its perfect-Light-Compact-Looks Great-Brilliant qualityBut I wasn't about to spend that much money with my wife giving me the look of disapproval when she saw the price tag. After a quick google I found this for more than half the price. I sit here now with my new favourite bit of kit! Love it thank you and it came to the door very swiftly.
