Review: Compact, efficient, timeless. - Perfect sweeper for low pile carpeted areas. My grandmother had one of these in the 1960s. It's designed and construction hasn't changed. Why change to what works! It's literally bristles on a roller ... that catch up the dust/hairs/crumbs on the carpet, and brushes it off on the lips of the collector traps, ready for you to empty it into your bin. Love it.
Review: Early Days But So Far So Impressed! 😉 - Last year (2024) I had a beige/light brown carpet fitted in my living room/hallway, with which, I am very pleased. Unfortunately, it tends to show the "bits" that gather, via daily usage, quite quickly and easily. So, to avoid having to lug out my faithful Henry Hoover, 3/4 times a week, I was thinking of getting a smaller, hand held, or mini handled upright vacuum cleaner. But someone suggested it would just be as effective for the job to purchase a "carpet sweeper." Having grown up in the 60#s, I was aware of a number of people who used to use them regularly. So, having done some research, the Bissell Sturdy Sweep, kept popping up and (generally) achieving positive views. Therefore, I decided to take the plunge and buy one. As others have stated, it was a bit of a faff/fuss to put the handles together (especially with my shaky hands!) and I was worried about "cross threading," the separate parts. However, I eventually managed it and the resulting handle seems to be very tightly fitted and reliably sturdy. I immediately set to having a go on my "bitty" carpet and was very impressed with the results. It easily picked up all of the "bits" and left my carpet looking as pristine as if I'd used the hoover on it. The unit is small and compact, but seems to be perfect for its intended use. I've yet to try it on the lino, in the kitchen, where occasional spills of sugar/coffee etc, I suspect will be more of a problem, but I'll not find that out until there's some sort of "spillage" and I'm not going to create one, just to test my theory! 😉😉 Quite a few reviewers have commented that, in their experience, the unit is flimsy and the handle even more so, but that's not been my experience. All, in all, I'd say that it's early days, but so far, I'm impressed. As things stand. I would recommend the Sturdy Sweep and at £20 it's much cheaper than electric options and without the added inconvenience of having to plug it in, or charge it!

**Q: What is the size of this cleaner,please..?**
A: about the size of an A4 piece of paper and about 2 inches deep, very light and easy to use. My husband tried it today and even he was impressed! Going to buy another for my mum. Hope this helps.

**Q: Does this work on wooden floors?**
A: I just bought one of these from Wilkinsons to pick up dog hair. I have laminate floors and find its not as good on laminate, can take several passes over one spot. Absolutely brilliant on carpets and rugs.

**Q: Does it work on very thin, old carpets? My earlier vacuum cleaner could't get the hairs out**
A: It does! The bristles inbetween get into anything! The only disadvantage is when dirt is right in the corner against a wall, as sometimes the outer smaller bristles don't quite get it, so a vacuum still needs to be used. I'd recommend to do what we do: Bissel two or three times a week when you notice dirt, and vacuum once a week. Hope this helps!

**Q: /I see mixed reviews on whether it picks up dirt on tile,however what about scratching?anyone owning one could advise if this could scratch tile floor**
A: It has 4 rubber drive wheels so cannot scratch the tiled floor. It will pick up crumbs, etc. from tiles successfully.I find that it works well on all surfaces.
