Touring Caravan Drainage Kit - Whale Connection

Ok I thought this was a bit pricey hence 4 stars, for this bit of kit. I have seen home made varieties, but decided to get this one anyway. The great thing is it fits my whale water pump insert perfectly. Followed the instructions, there is a cd included, but just read the brief instructions. There are YouTube examples as well if you want to see someone doing this. Got rid of a lot more water that was hanging in the water system after I suppose to have drained it down! You will need a tyre inflator as well and just set it to 15psi, no more. It worked a treat. Is it worth it? Well if you should happen to get burst pipes and other expensive potential damage in winter, then yes I think it’s worth having in my kit.

Used a portable compressor, was a bit tricky as it did not have a digital gauge, so I checked it first against a calibrated gauge. Good job I did because it was reading 5 psi low, which meant I would have over pressurised and potentially damaged the system.Strongly suggest you watch the video that comes with it, or if not is is easy to find on You Tube.Drained nearly 2 litres of horrid coloured water and hopefully will save me the £180 it cost last year when the main kitchen tap burst through the frost, because it still had water trapped in it.Good piece of kit, simple and it works.

Although this seems a bit 'gadgety' it actually saves a lot of money if the temperature drops below around 3 to 4 degrees below freezing. Last winter we couldn't find our kit and ended up having to buy a new hot water tank.Easy to use and certainly a worthwhile purchase.

Bought this to flush out the stale water in the system on our Swift BaseCamp caravan for the winter. Used along with a Halfords electric car tyre pump. Works exactly as shown in the instructions and helpful DVD that comes with it. Cost a lot but I think we’ll use it more often than just the winter to keep the water system as clean as possible, so that probably makes it reasonable value.

Straight forward to use and did remove some water though not as much as the manufacturers advert led me to believe would be remaining. That said removing even a small amount during a freeze is worth it and I can see advantage of being able to fully flush and drain whilst touring

It does what it supposed to do, but you will need a pump with a pressure gauge, preferably electric operated, it seems a lot of money for a whale socket, pipe and a couple of valve and couplings

Watched the dvd then went ahead and and used the kit. We got at least 1ltr out of the system. Will definitely use this more than once a year. 👍
