Excellent book for a beginner
Excellent book for a beginner. Its self explanatory and the colourful graphic makes it attractive to read. My daughter whizz through this book really quickly and now is on to the next one.

Highly recommended
An excellent book for complete beginners. I'm very impressed by the way different concepts are introduced gradually, and the musical pieces and exercises are engaging and useful. One small criticism: a dotted note appears in one piece before it is explained; but don't let that put you off. Highly recommended. My seven year old daughter is loving learning with this book.

Good tutor book but still a bit flawed
I'm a piano teacher and have used this book with around 50 children now. I alternate between this and the John Thompson's Easiest piano course to refresh me...there's only so much you can take of the frog appearing on every page! Part 2 of this series is also good but by the end of part 2, it's best to move onto the Prep Test etc rather than Part 3 in my experienceStarts off INSTANTLY with the treble and bass clefs and has an excellent 6 page background to the clefs, musical alphabets etc...very thorough and something I haven't found anywhere else.Camptown races and Pop goes the weasel and Jelly on the plate are OK tunes but the rest are very very boring...I use the 'Making the grade' series to complement this when children want to learn tunes they've actually heard of.A note that there is a 'special edition' version of this book too with good sight reading pages. The theory part of this book is very limited...the John Thompson one is far better but any child would benefit from one of Lina Ng's excellent theory books to complement either publication.

Good Learning Tool
Purchased for my 9 year daughter who is having piano lessons. She is using the book at home and for her lessons. My daughter is enjoying it very much and you can see the progress she is making. Would highly recommend this book for children who are just starting to learn the piano.

you won't find better
extremely well thought out book covering essential theory, tips on piano technique, gradually progressing at a pace suitable for a child. My daughter liked the tunes and drawings through the book. I wasn't impressed when I first saw it, but after having gone through it with my daughter I'm now completely won over.

British Piano Book
Didn't realize it was from England till I received it. They use different musical terminology then we do in the states.
