Great looking, once modified.
This is a nice NATO strap. I appreciate that the retainer loops are made of leather as well, instead of metal like many NATO straps. It is incredibly comfortable and when paired with an appropriately sized watch, you can't even tell that you're wearing it. As others have noted, the leather is quite thin and extremely soft as it is top grain leather instead of full grain. I knew that going in, but for the price, I wanted to try it anyway. I'm actually quite happy with the durability. Yes, it is very soft and supple, and yes that means that you'll get a kink at the buckle position and a slightly elongated hole probably on the very first day that you use it, as I did. However, that same softness makes it extraordinarily comfortable. The kink and the elongated hole didn't continue or stretch once they formed, and the material isn't wearing thinner there. They formed on the first day I wore this strap and I've worn it daily through physical work, exercise, and recreation, and it has stayed exactly the same. I've been using this strap for about a month now. I feel like it will last for quite a while and have no worries about the buckle pulling through or anything like that. A positive aspect with the thinness of the strap is that it won't cause your watch to sit excessively high on your wrist. I'm a grown man with a very small wrist. I have to select a small case watch (38mm) and I want a relatively thin watch as well. Anything too big or thick just looks out of place on a thin wrist. Due to the way a NATO strap attaches to a watch, you are going to have two layers of the strap material between your wrist and the case back. If you have a thick NATO strap, this can cause the watch to sit quite high off your wrist and if you wear dress shirts, especially with French cuffs, sometimes the sleeve won't fit over the watch anymore. This isn't an issue with a thin strap like this. MODIFICATIONS: (See Pictures) I said that this was great looking once modified. What did I mean? First, I ordered Gingerbread Brown and it was much, much lighter than pictured. Second, the buckle hardware is polished chrome, but my Seiko 5 has a matte sandblasted case. I would venture to guess that the more rugged look of field watches paired with NATO straps would most often favor a brushed finish on the buckle instead of a polished finish. In my case, I really felt like the polished buckle clashed with the matte rugged look of the watch. So I did the following things: 1. I rubbed a plentiful amount of mink oil into the strap. Front, back, under the loops, everywhere. I used a decent amount but really rubbed it in...no chunks or smears left on the surface. Then I baked the strap laying on its side on a cookie sheet at 200 degrees for 40-60 minutes. I took it out and repeated the mink oil and baking process 2 more times for a total of 3 times. This mink oil/baking combination really makes the leather supple, increases it's durability, and darkens the color. It has an added benefit of waterproofing the leather, preventing water from soaking in and water spots from forming. I'm really happy with the color now. A lot darker than it came, but with more character than the "saddle brown". 2. I used a regular Scotch Brite pad to very lightly and uniformly brush the metal hardware. You don't want to press hard and scour the metal which will leave visible lines. You want to almost buff it, in one direction, over and over. It will take a few minutes but you can end up with a really nice matte finish that looks like it came this way.

Great bang for your buck
This is a great strap, nice and thin and pliable making it very comfy on the wrist. Easy quick way to change up the look of a watch. The factory black cloth strap on my seiko 5 sports field watch had seen better days. I went with this Barton to change things up a bit. It took me longer to get the factory strap off than to install this one. NATO straps are quite easy but can be rather bulky, but the thinness of this strap is great. It's been on the watch a couple months now and hasn't patina'd as much as I had thought but I think it looks great and seems to be holding up. Just the typical bend in the strap on your usual position and a slight ovaling of the hole, but nothing I'm concerned about. I'll certainly keep these at the top of my list when looking for any new straps.

UPDATED: Decent leather NATO , but was Broken upon receipt.
CORRECTION: Earlier review below. I ended up fixing the prong myself. It’s very comfortable to wear on a Seiko Dive watch. The leather is soft. I’m boosting the rating up now that I’ve worn it, but I’m still annoyed that the product was delivered with the faulty state in the buckle. This fault was likely a rare / unlucky fluke. But I thought this should be aired. I’ve bought other BARTON Straps and have been very happy with the quality. ORIGINAL: Was looking forward to this strap. I put the strap on my watch, and it immediately came loose after I heard a small piece of metal hit the floor. I looked at the watch and the ground and realized the prong on the buckle came off. I examined the assembly more closely to see I could fix it myself, and noticed the buckle was never assembled correctly in the first place. Then I stopped. Why is this my problem to fix? Barton screwed up, because they apparently do not have any quality control. I would probably have given this a 4 or 5 star if I didn't have this problem. It seems like a thin and simple leather strap in the NATO style I was looking for. Now I'm debating if I should get replacement, or look around from other brands.

Barton Band with Green Seiko!
NATO Leather Band from Barton is great. When i first received them I thought it's flimsy and thin. Strap was placed to match with the Seiko Superior and what a big difference it made to the whole appearance! Grey was the one i ordered to match the Olive Green face of the Seiko. Band is a perfect fit and it's very well made. The stitching is sturdy and added an aesthetic look to the whole look. It feels soft on the wrist and wore it the whole day. Even went to sleep with it on. If you need a leather band for your watch, go with Barton. Will not break tour wallet and the quality and crafting is superb!

Lasts
Im almost three years with this watchband and it has taken a good amount of abuse. I’ve swam in the ocean with it, spent a long days at the beach with it, and used it on all sorts of outdoor projects where I get my hands (and my watch) dirty. It simple just lasts. The leather has a nice patina now. The material is thin, but strong. The NATO style loop under the watch adds a lot of comfort.

Disappointed
Not as expected. Do not use it on your Tissot 1853 watch. It does not fit. Not easy to use. This is the first time I could not wear my watch by myself since my childhood because of the design of the strap. Disappointed. Wouldn't expect this from Barton.

Bello, realizzato bene, comodo e colore conforme alle foto...unica pecca forse è che è un po' sottile per i miei gusti.

I bought it because - on Amazon - I cannot find a top grain leather NATO strap. The other I was able to find were genuine leather (which is an inferior quality). I like it, as noted by others it is thin enough to pass between the spring bars and the case. It is comfortable to wear and honestly I don't have complains about the leather keepers. Though some say they are not strong enough to last, I think they give the strap a better/peculiar look: for scuba diving I won't use a leather NATO strap anyways. By the way, in the and I bought another one in a different color for another watch
