I was bought this beautiful book as a gift. Giorgio Armani is a tour de force Italian fashion designer particularly noted for his sharp eye for menswear innovation and design. He is known today for his clean, tailored lines. He formed his company, Armani in 1975, and by 2001 was acclaimed as the most successful designer that Italy has produced with a personal fortune of a staggering $8.5 billion as of 2013. He is also credited with pioneering red-carpet fashion.Armani initially worked as a window dresser. He went on to become a seller in a menswear department. In the mid-1960’s, Armani moved to the Nino Cerutti company, for which he designed menswear. Armani also freelanced, contributing designs to as many as ten manufacturers at a time. In 1973, Armani opened a design office in Milan, this led to a period of extensive collaboration, during which Armani worked as a freelance designer for a number of fashion houses.The international press was quick to acknowledge Armani's importance and the experience provided Armani with an opportunity to develop his own style in new ways. As already stated in 1975 he founded Giorgio Armani S.p.A. in Milan and in October of that same year, he presented his first collection of men's ready-to-wear for Spring and Summer 1976 under his own name.
