Interesting adaptation
Really enjoyed this book. Am in no way religious especially any of the many hypocritical branches of Christianity, but am very aware having read the bible in the past that it does have many interesting, philosophical, and very apt passages in it. This book managed to put things across differently and even somehow managed to make “GOD” even less of an unforgiving, harsh me or nothing deity, individual or however you’d address him. Which let’s be honest really isn’t like him in the Old Testament fortunately unlike the New Testament. So a very well written and composed adaptation. Thank you. I really enjoyed reading it

Well worth reading if you are willing to take a new look at the Bible
A fascinating read as a Christian who can get very sceptical

A really good read overall
A reasonable summary of the general situation and academic views of biblical historians' discussion of a variety of positions take in that academic community currently. Targeted at the intelligent lay person.

Food for thought
This book provides a lot of material for thinking issues afresh, and provides careful analysis of both Old and New Testament.

A terrible book that seeks to undermine faith in the Bible while pretending to be objective
This book is devastatingly deceptive. The author pretends to be objective and fair while continually ridiculing the Bible and faith in it as being "childish" (check the title of the book) and equivalent to believing in Santa Claus. Does not present any of the evidence for believing in Scripture as the inspired Word of God but merely announces it can't be. Offers weak evidences that have been dealt with many times as "proof" of errors in the Bible. Pontificates constantly and expects the reader to believe his assertions because he, the almighty writer, said it. Pathetic and pitiful. Not well argued, not well reasoned, and not a fair presentation of the case for and against the BIble, all while giving the appearance of being so scientific and reasonable. Just awful.

Secular look at the Christian Canon
Provides an alternative, secular, look at the writing of the Bible. Especially valuable for those who don’t normally wonder at how the books that make up the Christian Canon came to be.
