Works well! A few tips to make sure it works for you
This adapter is a great replacement for having to carry a hefty Surface Power Adapter when I want my Surface Pro with me. It's been working well so far, but I have a few tips to make sure it works for you:1) You need a 15V/3A-compatible USB-C power adapter -- don't skip this step, go to your power adapter's manual and actually make sure it lists 15V/3A (45W total) in its supported power modes. USB-C is a mess and just because there is a USB-C connector/plug doesn't mean it supports this relatively uncommon power speed. It's what the Surface is designed with, so not the fault of the adapter at all.2) Plug and connect things with a specific order -- I would suggest 1) this Surface Adapter to a USB-C to USB-C cable, then 2) Surface Adapter to your Surface computer, then 3) USB-C Cable to USB-C Power Adapter (your power brick that supports 15W * 3A), then USB-C Power Adapter to AC power.Following the order I listed in 2) guaranteed it to work every time. A few things this order helps with -- it makes sure that the magnetic connection between the adapter and the Surface is solid and secure and fully inserted and that a) there aren't any mixed up / crossed pins from a half insertion, and b) there is no stress on any of the cables/components. I find with the Surface Pro that it's better for me if the adapter is inserted with the right angle facing up (as opposed to down) to give enough space for my USB-C cable to clear the table. Oh, and I can confirm that my adapter works fine with either orientation (as long as it's securely connected), contrary to a reviewer here who claimed this adapter only worked in one orientation. There were some concerns about longevity of this adapter, let's hope it holds up. I think if I religiously follow the steps above I'll be fine.

Doesn't work
Tested with multiple cables rated to 100W, plugged into Anker 30W and 20W PD chargers. It worked the first night. Since then, the indicator light turns on and then immediately turns off. Computer does not charge even while in use. This is on a 2017 Surface Pro that charges using 24W or 36W Microsoft branded chargers.Great idea but unfortunately terrible execution.

Great idea, needs a bit more engineering
I wanted to gove a 5 star review, but of your surface has a cover, the device maynot be able to fit with modifications to the cover. The power idicator light is also small and hard to see. It works fine.

It works! If you use the right parts
This little adapter works. But ... you have to realize there are 3 parts to making the adapter work. The charger, the USB-C to USB-C cable, and the adapter. If you don't have a charger giving enough output, the adapter won't work. If you don't have a high quality enough USB-C cable, the adapter won't work.Notice that in both of those cases, it is not the adapter's fault, but the adapter will only work in a specific set of circumstances. I intentionally tried it with a quality phone charger, and there was no charging on my Surface Pro. Same thing with a cheap cable, OR a USB-A to USB-C cable. Only when I used the right parts for the charger and the cable did the adapter work.I am not getting as fast of charging as the Surface Pro charger, but I think that is because I am using a 65 W charger. If I was using a 100 watt charger, maybe it would be the same speed? Not sure, but I am not buying a new one to test that idea.It works. Meaning I can carry less to charge all my devices. That is what I wanted.

Does not fit Surface Pro6
Purchased for my Surface Pro6, does not fit due to the cable can't plug in the unit.Likely works with other model's but does not work with SP6.

Meets the Mark
Satisfies all the criteria you are needing in your search for a Surface power adapter. I use mine every day and it works perfectly. Really glad I pulled the trigger on this purchase.

Inconsistent charging with brick over 65w
I want to preface this review by saying that 1) this adapter is a brilliant (if slightly flawed) idea; 2) yes, I did read through ALL the compatibility documentation before ordering; 3) all USB-C cables mentioned in this review are 100w USB-C 3.1 to USB-C cables, i.e. they're the correct cables for this task; and 4) this review is longer because I hadn't seen anyone else address the issue of "too high" power input with this adapter.I own both a multi-port 15A PD 100w charging brick and a multi-port 15A PD 65w charging brick (which came with a Surface Book 2 USB-C charging cable) and a couple of longer USB-C cables. I purchased this adapter to connect to one of those cables for use with the 100w brick. This is all in an effort to reduce the weight and number of cables & charging bricks I'm toting around with me. The reviews were good enough on this device and those that weren't typically were because someone didn't fully read the description and didn't have a powerful enough charging brick. I did and I do.I should also note the 65w works great with standard SB2 use, but cannot keep up with the heavier load of gaming or using the computer to edit in Adobe. The 100w brick was a better option. The downside to my current setup is either I lose my only USB-C port on the laptop to a charging cable or I have to (carry around and) use the shorter SB2 to USB-C cable I had. When I "happened" upon this adapter it seemed perfect. Fewer cables and I regained the port on my SB2.I'm rating this 3-stars because it "sort of" works, but there is a limitation in how it can be used and that should be identified. The reviews and documentation clearly indicate that any 15A PD charger 45w and above will work with it; however, it does not consistently charge with the 100w charger and a USB-C cable. The light illuminates on the adapter (meaning it is receiving the minimum amount of power), but the power source indicator in Windows flashes between charging and battery when plugged in using this adapter. Clearly, there is an inconsistent power feed being sent through the adapter. It is not an issue with the charging brick. I tested various options:1) I tested the 100w with the SB2 USB-C cable I already have and it works fine.2) I tested the 100w brick with only the one USB-C cable plugged in(to the laptop)--adapter illuminates, Windows charging/battery icon flashes.3) I tested the 100w brick with a USB-C plugged into one port for the SB2 and another into my phone (since the brick scales as you add more devices and the primary port lowers to 65w)--adapter illuminates, Windows charging/battery icon still flashes.4) I tested the adapter with the 65w and USB-C cable and the power fed just fine. (This option may work great, but defeats the purpose of purchasing the more powerful charging brick that I need.)5) Finally, I tested steps 2-4 using different USB-C cables with the same results. Two final points of note:1) It is not an issue with the adapter "being only for SB1, not SB2/3." Microsoft has said that the connectors are the same; the power supply is wherein the difference lies. (Plus, the SB2 was noted in the images as compatible with this adapter.)2) It is not an overpower issue with the charging brick and my SB2 as I have both used the 100w brick plugged directly into my laptop through the USB-C cable and my Surface dock is 199w. The OEM charger also is 102w and Microsoft recommends using a charging brick with the same capacity as the one shipped with the SB2.At this point, I'm sending this back and will just continue to use the USB-C port on the SB2 for charging and take my portable dock when I need extra ports. It is good if you stay between 45w - 65w with your charging brick, but not worth the risk of connecting a 100w brick and potentially frying the charging port on my SB2 for the convenience of regaining a USB-C port or carrying one less cable.
