Very effective
After months of having plants ruined, lawn dug up, and rubbish from raided dustbins and fox poo all over the place, I had had enough and started researching deterrents. I decided to go for this rather than the sonic type mainly because I thought even if it didn't deter the foxes it would if nothing else give the garden a watering. The first few nights were a battle royal with water going off every few minutes, but even though the foxes were still coming in it stopped them doing any damage. Since then they seem to have given up. I still leave it on because I'm sure it wouldn't take long for them to start coming back again, and it still gets set off from time to time as one of them chances its luck, but so far so good. This has been such a success I have even filled in the holes in the lawn and started replanting, which I'd given up on because as fast as I did it things would get dug up again. Also it's great to be out in the garden and smelling the flowers rather than the heady aroma of fox poo. EDIT - After a few months use I have to say this isn't 100%. The foxes do get used to it to a certain extent. They don't linger under the spray (and I don't think they would ever get used to this) so it does effectively protect areas of the garden directly covered by the water jet. The problem is, they learn quite quickly that elsewhere in the garden IS safe, so if you want a completely fox free garden you need to have every bit of it covered, or at least every possible entry point. I had to get a second unit to cover more of the garden, and I may end up getting a third (and I don't have an especially big garden, just a longish narrow one). *However* all that said I do still regard this product as very effective - these issues say more about the annoying persistence of foxes than they do about the product itself. It has been considerably more effective than my neighbour's sonic deterrent and less than half the price. Retaining the 5* rating because despite the limitations it has turned the garden back into a garden as opposed to fox toilet and landfill dump. EDIT 2 - Do NOT leave outside in freezing weather! I stupidly ignored the instructions and didn't bother to bring it in all winter. There were no problems at first but after the snow in february/march this year the unit now leaks. I took it apart in the forlorn hope something had just come loose but the plastic pipework inside has cracked where water has obviously frozen inside. A bit of frost is probably ok, but it won't withstand the temperature being below freezing for any period of time.

The ultimate deterrent
I have several ultrasonic cat deterrents in my garden but I think the cats are getting used to them. I needed to up the anti. This product certainly does that. You can set the sensitivity of the unit via a control knob. Detection is very good but I would agree with other comments that the unit will spuriously trigger on sunny days. I wanted the unit for night time use where the sun is obviously not an issue. I am not aware of any spurious night time triggering. When the unit activates it goes mental. the noise of the unit probably scares the cats as much as the water jet. You can adjust the arc that the water sprays. My only complaint about the unit is that it tends to spray over the head of cats. It would have been nice if the spray head was on an adjustable head so that you could tilt it independently of the sensor unit. Currently if you tilt the assembly to spray at a lower level the sensor is also tilted more towards the ground which is not terribly useful. Perhaps in the next revision of the unit the spray head could be on a ball joint to allow better directional control of the spray pattern. Having said this, I would still recommend this product - certainly for night time use anyway.

Best thing ever
I am going to start by what I don't like: getting sprayed every time I forgot is there.🤦 This is by far the best cat deterrent. Or I can say the only one as nothing else works. For whoever is thinking to try it, don't think, just go for it. I wanna start by saying that I love animals in general. What I don't like is having poo in the garden, in the herbs pots, in the flower beds and other places like the water bowl that the foul cats were drinking from, and ah, cat wee on my garden shoes that normally stay outside. I have tried several cat deterrents up until now but honestly before this device I thought only actual poison would keep my garden poo free. It is well made so it's only spraying when it senses movement. It does not leak and I must say that for an entire week I haven't had one poo in my garden. The only problem is that I've ruined it when it froze. I was smart enough to turn off the water but I wasn't smart enough to take it inside so the water inside it freezes. Now I have ordered the second one because in the few days after the snow melted I was lucky to notice 6 more poos in the garden... Just so you know, before getting this device I have tried all natural deterrents like pepper/chilli, essential oils, cat scatter granules, ultrasonic device, food on their poo(they ate it by the way). And also I borrowed my friends dog for a while and they still managed to mark their territory with the dog in the garden. So once again, if you need a cat deterrent stop waisting your money on anything else and get this beast. Or if you want anything cheaper go for a kiddies water gun and stay there 24/7 😅 I hope this helped.

Brilliant update ( bad quality)
Update. Bought 2 and 2 split and is leaking badly almost flooded my pond with tap water if I had to be away the fish would have died from chlorine Have this about a year now. And it's still going strong. I added attachments and spare hose to the top so the motion sensor can be in one area and the spray can be in another area. It works fine either way. I bought a inline shut off valve hose attachment to instantly stop this from spraying when working in that part of garden. I am very impressed how long the batteries last and how long this unit has laster in general. I don't leave it out in winter time as the fish I am protecting will not come to surface and cats won't be able to get them. But summer time they are constantly at the top looking for food. Cats will try find a way around it so change up it's location from time to time or widen the spray area. A few improvements would be a remote controlled arm / disarm feature. And also be able to control the duration of how long it sprays for it sprays for about 3 seconds it's enough to do the job the cat is long gone by the time it shuts off. The spike base is good and strong but I could have done with a flat base but the hose attachment goes into the spike it's self. Also you can use this with other sprinklers just add attachment to front of this one and run it to the next one. It's a nice feature if you have a very large area to cover. If I paid double what it costs I would still be impressed with it. It Has saved my fish on many occasions Overall it's probably the best product I have bought with zero issues or complaints 100% does what it says it does.

Defective item however worked well in the beginning
Have purchased this in March 2025. When i have arrived home from work today Nov 2025, water is entering into the area where battery is and spray or sensor is no longer detecting movement; is now malfunctioning. I have currently contacted the seller and asked for a replacement with warranty. Hopefully item will be replaced as it has been working so far until now. I have purchased 2 of this as it had been doing well keeping cats away and making my garden into their toilet.

It works to deter foxes, and what a great price.
I have literally entered into a battle of wits with the local foxes who have been digging holes in my garden for a year now. Having 2 dogs I need to be careful to deter the foxes but not upset my dogs at the same time. I have tried the ultrasonic with flashes lights, which clearly didn't bother my dogs. This did seem to work for a couple of weeks, but they must have learned not to be worried by it and the digging recommenced. I really didn't want the hassle of a hose pipe as they always seem to leak. Then talking to a neighbour he said he was using a motion detector sprayer which kept his garden fox free. So I bit the bullet and bought this and behold, it works. From day one - no digging. This looks exactly the same as my neighbours kit, which was much more expensive. And his leaks, this doesn't. Although after reading the reviews I used plumbers tape everywhere when putting the unit together, which is a sensible precaution. I had to adjust the sensitivity as it was initially firing off every 10 minutes (which I think was moths flying past the sensor). But I set it to around half and that did the job. I am a light sleeper with the windows open and so far I have heard the unit fire off 3 times during the night. So noise is a downside to this solution, basically it is a sprinkler, so makes a sprinkler noise for a few seconds. The other downside is this unit is in my front garden so to avoid guests or the postman getting wet I switch off the tap in the morning, then walk towards the unit which fires off a little and set the sensor to 0 - which switches it off. I then have to do the opposite every night. Quality and build-wise it looks and feels exactly the same as the more expensive unit. Plus you get a 2 year guarantee. If you want to deter foxes this might be the solution for you.

Great product, foxes gone, lawn recovering
I researched lots of different brands and went for this mainly due to price. I checked out the 1 star reviews and was a bit apprehensive. So far so good. After three nights: No leaks. No foxes. No holes in my postage-stamp size lawn that has taken me two years and a lot of cash to get perfect and was ruined in three nights by foxes. I think this very powerful spray is designed for larger gardens/ponds, but after a lot of tweaking I have it covering my grass effectively. It has gone off several times each night, no damage by urban vermin to my lawn and it gets watered. If this lasts a month, then for the price, job done. It really could do with an off switch - but each morning I turn off the hose, drain the hose, and the dog can laze on the lawn in peace. I will register for the free TWO YEAR WARRANTY. Edit - last night was it's third night of use - it didn't trigger at all. The pests have obviously decided it's not worth it. I'm very impressed.

Very sensitive but worth it
So our neighbour has started to feed 6 stray cats fair play to him for having a decent heart but his good deed now means they use our garden in particular our flower bed as a toilet. I've tried using chilli powder which worked but once it rained you've to start all over again. I've 2 young kids and one recently went to pick up there present to us so I've lost it. I've spoken to my neighbour about this and his view is to deal with it cause he's got a dog so there's no chance he'll have the problem we have. So after much research I came across this device, I've only had it a couple of days but I can safely say that the cats are now nowhere to be seen. The motion sensor is really sensitive, a gust of wind will set it off so be prepared. We've a rose Bush at the bottom of the garden and when it sways it sets off the sprinkler, great that the flowers are getting there daily water intake but kinda annoying hearing it go off every 2 minutes. I've now set the distance to a shorter setting and that seems to work so far. Also worth nothing the spray is really high, if you have any neighbours either side of you I would suggest not using the extension cause it will go into their garden. I've also had to use industrial tape to keep the hose connected to the device so don't be surprised if the pressure keeps knocking it out. I'm really happy with the purchase, didn't cost a lot of money and it has done what I needed it to do so I've a happy family now and I can rest easy knowing my kids can go out and not have to do a recon mission first to make sure the area is safe and secure from cat sh#t, Jesus it smells so bad. Find the perfect setting for your garden and make sure it can stay connected and I'm sure you'll enjoy using this.

Katzenschreck
