My unit used to work, but now despite buying two other new tubs of strips all I get is E4. Any ideas?

Maybe you need to check the batteries. I don't know if this product has a QC (quality control) mode but we have this on our machines in hospitals. We perform QC checks to see that our machines always work. Hope this helps.

The strips for this are not available at the moment; are there any other brands of strips that are compatible with this device?

Unfortunately, due to the current circumstances things are taking slightly longer than usual. We are expecting to have stock in 3-6 weeks.

Does it come with a sim card that fits to side of monitor?

Each tub of test strips (whether they be Ketone or Glucose strips) come with their own chip (but it's not a "SIM" card as they go in mobile phones right?)

Do you need the ketone chip? As I can't find it anywhere to buy for your product. And it is not included in package.

The code chip is included in the On Call Ketone Test strips. These are not included with the meter.
