Extraordinary fabric designs, for ADVANCED knitters
As many other reviewers have noted, the knit fabrics shown in this book are remarkable. Pattern instructions are very brief. In some cases, they amount to just a general description of the construction. Christoffersson cheerfully breaks and rejoins yarn, picks up stitches in unexpected places, and generally knits off in all possible directions at once. I give 5 stars for the sheer education it provides in what is possible for a knitted fabric.I could have wished for suggestions as to what, if anything, she does with all the ends on the back, how she keeps the yarn untangled, and how she manages the fabric as it grows larger.I plan to use it as a source for experimentation. Any of the designs would need a lot of trials and swatching before attempting in a garment. I will also try similar techniques in crochet. (Some of the processes seem like they would be _much_ easier in crochet, but may be I'm just more familiar with that art.)

LOVE THIS BOOK
Heard about this designer and book from the Valiant Tailoress. Really great book for color inspirations and much more to explore in motifs and patterning. SO happy to have found an excellent copy as well.

Fun, inspiring, creative
I'm an advanced knitter, and in addition to a great cover, this book has some fun stitch techniques to try out. The way Ms. Christofferson has combined familiar patterns you can find in Barbara Walker books with her own unique sense of design scale and texture is inspiring, to say the least. I incorporated the pattern with the big red dots and the outer rim flanges around them into a baby blankie - looks cool! Also, there's a Honeycomb stitch cardigan where she places the reverse side of the pattern on the outside of the cardigan. The texture is crunchy and delicious!

Totally new knitting experience
The book has met my expectations in terms of creativity and use of colour. The technics used may not be for beginners but noone remains a beginner so I think this book is a must have for every knitter. I have tried a few of them. The explanations are easy to follow. The output is exactly what you see in the inspirational pictures. A brand new window to make use of also the wrong side of what you knit besides being a totally fresh knitting experience.

Not enough inspiration!
There are a bunch of pages with lots of empty spaces that would have been very useful for more swatches. There are many knit n purl combinations, increase and decrease, and honeycomb designs that can be used with various colors. She doesn't really include that much variation on each! Nice concepts, but only 4 pages in this book catch my eye and inspire me. I have to go to my book shelf for a stitch pattern book and just use her techniques for incorporating color in the designs.

Love the book. Hate the editing.
I am a fairly experienced knitter and am fascinated by the techniques in this book. I'd describe it more as directions to create a knitted fabric than patterns for garments or goods. I can't wait to try some. At minimum the book expanded the horizons of what I could create with needles and yarn. But, placement of the descriptions for the illustrations is inconsistent. Example, pages 12 and 148 both have 4 pictures and 4 explanations however, the placement of the explanations isn't the same. Top left, Top right, Bottom left, Bottom right, not the same on every page. Really confusing when you're trying to match a picture to a description. So, I have to lower my rating because of the editing.

Over the Top!
This is the most over-the-top knitting book I have ever seen. I see great knitting adventures (and probably some frustration) ahead. I had visions of pillow covers and scarves dancing in my head the day it arrived. She works in a very fine yarn and very small needles but as you know that is all adjustable. I intend to make a collection of swatch samples to go with the book. This is a gourmet delight for designers.Highly recommended. Not for beginners.

Interesting and unique approach
This book contains unique approaches to both use of color in knit swatches and to use of texture. Good pictures, good directions, but not all the patterns may be for beginners. Is full of stitch ideas for those who are confident about recreating their own garments and accessories.

Very good book for a knitter trying to learn new techniques
I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to learn new knitting tricks and create impactful pieces. The author uses simple knit/purl stitches to achieve interesting decorative patterns. Very happy with my purchase. Can't wait to put into practice the techniques she describes here!!!

Wonderful Book!
I like knitting colour but there are only so many things you can knit as fair isle or intarsia before it becomes just one more thing. This is a wonderful book for me: modern, inventive, great reference. I'm so happy the author spent time making sample after sample of different techiques and colour combinations. This book is going along side my Mon Tricot patterns reference that I've had since it was published and will be just as well used. I don't have the patience, or yarn stash, to sit for weeks working out patterns and trying different colour schemes before I start knitting something. I love this book! There are no garment patterns, but dozens of samples of motifs worked out in a rainbow of fine, regular yarns which are accessible to everyone.

Great inspiration
As previous reviewers said, this is a great reference book for inspiration about how to push the boundaries of colour and pattern. It's definitely colourful! great graphic designs.I like the way it gives a huge variety of repetitive patterns that you could adapt to scarves, cushions, blankets...It starts with fairly straight forward rib designs in a single colour, where it makes a slight change and shows you how the appearance changes. The patterns seem easy to follow. Then it introduces colour, but again in simple lines to start with, and makes slight variations, so that you can see the overall effect. The second half of the book goes a little crazy with both colour and patterns, and shows cardigans made of holes and elaborate designs.Every time I look at it, I get the urge to start a scarf in odd colour combinations.I would have liked to see more colour variation, most designs are done in primary colours: red, yellow, green and blue.It makes some designs a bit garish, where more subtle colours would have made the pattern beautiful. But then, that's for you to change!I'll definitely try some of the designs.Very inspirational, and not a single flounce or flower in sight!Would make a good present for those knitters that love adapting patterns to make their own, and maybe intarsia knitters that enjoy colour combinations.
